Styling the Seasons: January

Styling the seasons January

I have long to join in with Styling the Seasons but lacking confidence in either my style or photography I have yet to dive into such a lovely, monthly project. Well, 2016 is a new year and the year I am diving in to numerous things that I am passionate about and telling my lack of self confidence to take a hike. I love styling corners of my house with various home accessories, flowers and plants to make it a bright, inspiring place to be. You will never see my shelves look the same here as things are constantly on rotation and moving about the house to my husband’s dismay. To say I absolutely love change is an understatement.

For my first month of Styling the Seasons for January, it is all about a space for planning, creativity, new journals, and making those new year’s goals both for personal and business gains. I got these two amazing little notebooks for birthday presents this boxing day and they have been the perfect accessories to my new little desk corner of our living room. The pink “I heart pretty things” is a jumbo lined notebook for my daily tasks and my blogger journal has already proven it’s worth from keeping me up to date with my social media and scheduling out my blog posts. But most importantly they look amazing on my new white desk. I have added a little bamboo plant (real) to give that fresh nature feel to it. I am completely in love with these black square paper clips I picked up at ikea on my last visit. I haven’t had a work space before so it’s nice that I have somewhere to put my laptop down, feel inspired and move numerous accessories on and off my desk, all week. I hope this is the year I work harder but less, and live more simple with a decluttered space. No more piling work up in a corner, it now has a home to go to.

Styling the Seasons January

I have styled my desk with lots of lovely mini plants and vases for fresh flowers to keep a clean look. I have a grey and white marbled laptop cover that I truly adore now. My two new favorite notebooks that keep me on task and organized sit next to it. I don’t like a lot of things on my desk but about half way through the week it started piling up and it’s always relaxing each weekend to work my way through it all to start the next week fresh again.

At the moment this little space is my sanctuary where I sit hours and hours everyday. Someday I dream of an actual office for all my food props, photography stuff, and backdrops. A place I can set up and keep up and play to my hearts content, being creative.

“Word Hard & Be Kind” bekind

Come join in with this home style idea by uploading a photo of a styled corner of your home to your blog, instagram or twitter using #stylingtheseasons and tag Katy and Charlotte too. I have to give a special thanks for Teri at The Lovely Drawer for getting me to finally join in this amazing project that I have lusted over for so long.

    • Oh me to I could never go completely digital with planning and to dos. I just love writing things down the old fashion way it makes me remember them better. I hope to get better at my photography of my interiors for this project for sure. I am not sure I will rock it but I will damn give it a good try.

    • Oh thanks Claire. I am hoping I can work on my styling and photography indoors more with this project as much as my passion for home decor and forever changing my shelves and corners of the house.

    • Oh that would be great. It’s such a great project and I have wanted to join in for over a year now. Katy is so talented too. It’s going to hopefully improve my styling and photography skills is my goal this year.

    • It’s a tiny corner of the living room but I will take it, it’s mine and I can force myself to get some work done and ignore the house chores easier. Thanks hunny.

    • I still do those places too but during the day when it’s an official work freelance day I like to sit at my desk and get things done. Makes me stop looking at the laundry and dishes and getting side tracked. My new laptop case is truly my favorite thing ever. I love it. Thank you sweets.

  2. Such an inspiring place to work, Jenny. I love the crisp white desks and all the pops of colors with your plants. It’s definitely a space to feel productive and motivated. Thanks for sharing this with us on #sharewithme!

  3. Oh it would be great to have somewhere to work myself instead of a quick 30mins balancing my laptop on my knee whilst keeping one eye on a toddler (exactly what I’m doing right now!!). I love black and white, it looks so clean and I’m one for everything being in its place! 🙂

  4. I love your photography, I have faith you can definitely do this project.
Having an office/craft studio of my own would be a dream come true…until then I’m on a desk in the corner of the dining room 🙂
Love the “blogger journal” you have there. I am a list maker & have to get things down in pen…the old fashioned way! #sharewithme

    • Oh thanks Jodie. Oh I even love those big changes obviously moving abroad was one and I would love to move to another country and learn a new language that’s a big challenge on life right there. But even small as changing my shelves on a weekly basis is fun.

  6. Your desk looks a very calming place to work. I’m in awe of the time you spend in moving things around and re-working decor. You’d be driven insane by our ‘undecorated’ house.

    • Thanks Emma. Oh I drive my own hubby crazy because each week every shelf and room’s accessories gets moved around into another room or swapped out for something else. Our home is forever changing. He hates that. I love change.

    • Thanks Katy, I am glad you like it even if you are just being nice. lol I have been dying to dive into this project but house and photography need improving but this year I am hoping I can improve while I join in…. if that makes sense. I really want to focus on the little corner and shelves of my house this year instead of just throwing things on them. So it’s great project for that too. Thanks for hosting it.

    • Oh bless you I bet it’s hard with so much renovations going on to stay organized and on top of it all. I can’t live without a good notebook or dozen. lol
