March has been a great month for us. A month that I always find is a favorite whether it’s because Spring arrives, lighter days, my mother visiting, holidays like Mother’s Day or Easter, or whether March just is a good luck month. I love it. I truly have loved this year’s for sure. We have been so lucky with gorgeous sunny days and warmer temperatures. It seems life isn’t as hectic when the sun is shining even if things have slowed down. I always just feel better physically and mentally when the sun is shining as do the kids. I know hubby is always happier because it’s more golf. It’s been a very busy month for us that it feels like it’s been March for a very long time. Usually I am complaining time is going to fast, not this time. I have made myself stop more times than I normally do to smell the roses, take in the family time and appreciate March.
The kids have been a little tired and emotional with illnesses and been busy this is understandable. We are looking forward to some time in Ireland for the Easter holidays and a break to rest and recharge. Even though it’s been a great month in terms of weather and doing fun things we have probably had our toughest parenting month with the kids. It’s not like we have ever done this before so we are learning as we go in the parenting department. Whilst Mr P and I parent the exact same we both agree we need to change a few things up. At least we are on the same page and working towards shouting less and understanding our kids’ emotions more. After all, they are still so young and I think sometimes as a society we expect big things from these little people younger and younger. We have stepped back and took this on board. Now it’s about trying some new tactics. It was always easy having a baby and a toddler but once the age gap closed in and they became to hyper, running, toddlers well, the rules changed. Generally, they are amazing kids and they are SO loving as I boast about all the time. That love though turns into hyperness and getting each other to run through the house, break things, have funny laughing, shouting matches which they think is hilarious, I think breaks glass. Half the time it’s me shouting at them both for doing something not for doing things to each other, if that makes sense. I can’t wait for it to be warm enough after school to say go outside and play. A phrase my mother said endlessly to me and my siblings.
Looking back at a few family captures lately it seems we are a family that loves doors! If I spot a door, I find myself draw to it whether a capture of it because it’s colorful and lovely or a capture of the family in front of it. Funny enough, my kids usually beat me to it and shout, take a pictures of us! So this month it’s another park playing day, another big wooden door that I love so much, and a place that holds many weekend memories already for us.
MOMMY IS LOVING…
The warmer temperatures and Spring arriving.
Having my mother here for a few weeks.
Her new radio, my favorite USA stations ringing through the house.
DADDY IS LOVING…
His new car.
His new golf clubs.
Having new toys to play with for his midlife crisis. (joking)
BUBA IS LOVING…
Riding his bike more at the park. (but not when M & D take over).
Playing his first soccer game.
Writing M & D little love letters and leaving them around the house for us to find. (so sweet).
MISSY MOO IS LOVING…
Her vibrant pink Care Bear (brings back my own childhood memories).
Riding in Daddy’s new car shouting faster! (to my horror to Daddy’s delight).
Playing with her dollhouse.
TOGETHER WE ARE LOVING…
Having bike races at the park.
Feeding ducks out our own front door.
Having Granny and Grandma around so much this month.
The sunshine and warmer weather upon us.
I am glad the gloom of winter is behind us. We have a busy year planned ahead and it’s just getting started. I am learning better parenting skills as much as I am learning more about myself and what I can and can’t handle in terms of schedules and taking time for me. Daddy has been great trying new parenting tactics with me. He truly is the best partner and Daddy. I have enjoyed watching him do homework with B every night after dinner or get down and play dolls with MM. He is the best at getting them outdoors, on their bikes and playing sports too, if it’s a nice day out. We have laughed so much this month together as a family. Although a tiny moment where we thought we would race on the kids bikes at the park left us in hysterics, and our local park goers too but the two toddlers running after us telling us to, “GET OFF THEIR BIKES, NOW”. We like to be big kids too. They didn’t find it so funny. I couldn’t ask for a better little family unit. I am pouring out the love to them this month.
Don’t forget to check out my other lovely cohosts and the hostess’ family captures this month too. They are always so beautiful and full of love too! Dear Beautiful, Mummy Daddy Me, Tigerlilly Quinn, Bump-To-Baby, and Capture by Lucy.
That photo of you both on their bikes is brilliant! I’m loving being able to get outdoors and March has been a real turning point for this hasn’t it? #meandmineproject
It really has I am soaking it all up. I love getting ready for summer clothes, bbq, brighter days and outdoor play. Thanks lovely.
So pleased to see evidence of spring 🙂 Enjoy the Easter break in Ireland!
Thanks hun Ireland was amazing. I love being with family. Spring is here to stay hopefully.
Lovely photos Jenny – brilliant bike photo and story, it’s good to be a big kid sometimes! Glad you’ve had such a great month xx
Thanks adults can be kids too. lol We had a good day together at the park. What a lovely month passed us too.
Parenting can be tough some times but us Mummies and Daddies always get through it and it sounds like you have a great idea of things you want to change/happen going forward too. I love your photos, though I swear you get prettier every month! 😉 xx
Oh thanks Alex your comments always make me blush. You are stunning yourself babes. Yes parenting is a rollercoaster of up and downs for sure. Just got to find the right balance all the way.
Sounds like it has been a lovely month. It’s amazing how the sunshine can have such a good effect on our moods, I love picking the girls up from school and playing in thr garden cheers us all up. Great pictures xx
Sunshine really does put everyone in a good mood I love it and wish we had more of it. The kids are so much better outside. Roll on summer. Thanks hun for stopping by and commenting.
“Working towards shouting less…” Oh yes! I know that challenge! I never thought I had a temper until I had children! We quite regularly have noisy little crazies running around the house too… You’re right about gardens though. Love the summer months for that! Gorgeous photos Jenny!
Thanks hun. Yes we get a bit shouty in this house too which surprises me never thought I would be shouty momma like my own mother she was always shouting at us hahaha Now I am exactly like her.
Oh that picture of you on the kids’ bikes is priceless- I can only imagine the reaction of everyone else at the park!! And I’m with you all the way on looking forward to summer and long days out in the garden!!
Yes we were getting stared at when we started racing and the toddlers were chasing us shouting for us to get off their bikes. lol 🙂 It was hilarious. Glad my mother was there to actually catch us being silly parents as normally its just the four of us. Funny moment. Oh summer hope its a good one this year.
It’s so nice to see some sunshine again! Roll on Summer! Lovely photos.
Yes it really is. Makes everyone smile more and happier.
I love all the photos, but I really love the one of you on their bikes! Your little boys face is so funny!!
I don’t if they were more shocked that we fit and were racing down the path or upset that they wanted their bikes back. lol We love being a silly family. 🙂 Glad someone was there to capture us being absolutely crazy. lol Thanks lovely.
Such lovely photos, I LOVE the one of you on the kids bikes! I too have often set myself the challenge of shouting less, parenting is such hard work at times, but you both being on the same page is the most important thing.
Thanks Caroline so sweet of you. We had a good day playing kids ourselves. It’s great to be silly sometimes. Although we did get a few hundred looks while we raced through the park with our toddlers chasing us.
I love the photos of you on the tiny bikes! I have a thing for doors too and cant resist photos either, and sometimes archways & gates too. I think you are right about us sometimes expecting a lot from children, my younger children have it hardest I think, I treat my almost 3yr old the same as I treat my 5/6year olds, and I think she is really mature and wants to be like them, but i have to hold myself back because, really, shes still only 2! It sounds like although its been hard you are working together and being so positive about the changes you want to make, I hope its going well xx
We like to be big kids for sure. I love a good door photo. Glad I am not the only one.
I think you’re so right about people treating little ones like mini grown ups. Sometimes I forget just how little my tiny boys are — and I lose my temper if they’re whining or being a little bit ‘trying’. It’s hard sometimes isn’t it? But at least we’re mindful of it and trying to alter our ways. Glad you had a lovely month chickie — lots of love to you and yours xx #MeAndMine
I think we all forget and need reminded they are still so so small. Our expectations are ridiculous sometimes from the pressures of society, sadly. It’s nice to feel grounded again and just remind myself they are still very much babies at this stage for me to enjoy it all.
These photos are just beautiful!! Perfect family photos
Thanks lovely they are close to last month’s in style but in winter its not the easiest to get fun and creative. Hoping next month’s captures are fun of warmer temperatures and less layers so we can see the kids happy faces. lol
This is such a great time of year. Summer is my favourite but Spring is the promise of hot days, bbqs, bright nights and summer fashion. Im with you on the doors! I totally love a door. It’s so cute that you and your family share that x
Thanks lovely. Oh yes roll on those bbq, bright nights and summer clothes. I can’t wait for warmer temperatures. Yes a family of door lovers weird but fun I know.
Haha, love these photos of you in the bike race! So funny! yes it’s good that the gloom is behind us isn’t it, thank goodness! x #meandmine
Big kids for sure not sure how our parenting skills are but us acting like toddlers is perfected here. lol It was a lovely month this month. Glad the gloom is gone!!!
Lovely post Jenny, We’re welcoming Spring with open arms here too. I can;t wait to do proper bike rides with the littles soon, and yes to more garden play. our littles have been loving it so far this Easter break. That photo of you guys on their bikes is brilliant! something we’d do as well 😉 xx
Oh yes we really are and as soon as it gets warm outside we are outdoors every second we can be. I love this time of year. The lighter evenings are amazing too.
What gorgeous photos. You truly are a beautiful family who as you say, clearly love the outdoors. How lovely that you’ve got your mum over. Hope you have a nice break in Ireland x #meandmineproject
Thanks Kerry that’s so sweet of you darling. We do love the fresh air and sunshine.
I love the ones of you on the bike- so funny! And the one by the door is gorgeous. I had a care bear when I was younger, I used to be obsessed with them. Mads and LL have a care bear each but they aren’t that fussed by them- boo! xx
Oh that’s sad that they aren’t bothered by them I loved loved my care bear. lol I was excited MM really took to it. We have to be big kids from time to time. haha
Look at those little faces! Loving the action shots this month! Great idea xx
That’s the beauty of having children isn’t it, being able to show our inner child!! Great photo’s and so glad you had a lovely month, sunshine and warmer weather is a must for me too. Xx
Yes it really is the beauty of it. Thanks for your lovely comment. Loving the sunshine.
Just beautiful Jenny, lovely photos as always
