At The Park

~ Our ordinary moments at the park ~ IMG_4341How treacherous has January’s weather been? It’s no secret I am not a fan of the month of January, glad it’s gone. This weekend we attempted to brave the cold and go back to playing at our favorite park, around the corner from us. A park we used to see almost on a daily basis, but quickly was ignored since early December, due to horrible weather.IMG_4356IMG_4375Buba was all too keen to jump out of the double stroller and go play on the slide. He had a lot of stored up energy to burn off, bless him, leaving his sister to stay cuddled up warm under her blanket. She was no dummy, she would rather stay put, warm, and watch from a distance. Meanwhile, Buba took no time at all to jump in all the muddy puddles, go down three very wet slides, and come back happily covered in muck from head to toe. IMG_4338

IMG_4389We are lucky to have numerous parks on our estate, all with in walking distance. So if you get bored of one park, you can easily walk to the next one and play on different jungle gyms and bigger & better slides. We like to park hop. I never thought I would enjoy a park hop like I used to enjoy a pub hop, but I do, or even more so. No loud music, no fighting for a seat, no getting bumped into or drinks spilled on me and all the craziness that comes with pub hopping. Just letting my children safely run ragged, in a secure, fenced in area. That’s  my kind of good time, and their kind of good time. It’s a win-win situation.IMG_4377Our park days are one of our favorite past times as a family and usually we run into a friend or two that live in the neighborhood, as it’s a very close community here. I pray the weather gets better soon, so we can enjoy more of these ordinary moments at the park!

As part of my new year’s resolution, I want to get outdoors more, and fall in love with nature again. It’s been so long, hiding from the rain and cold but it’s never going to go away so I best just learn how to dress for it. I want my kids to be outdoor kids, I look forward to taking family adventures outside this year. That’s more parks, walks, zoos, hiking, biking, sports, you name it we will be doing it in 2014!IMG_4334

IMG_4355I thank you parks for always being there rain or shine for us to experience the ordinary moments in life to its fullest. When else can we (parents) pretend to be big kids and go down slides, screaming, “Weeee!” at the top of our lungs?

Linking up with {the ordinary moments} from the lovely Mummydaddyandme as well as ‘Country kids’ from the awesome Coombe Mill.

I am obsessed with my little man’s coat I even did a Baby & Toddler guide post: called winter coats because I keep buying this same one every year for my son. Third year in a row. hahaha MM’s hat was made by a friend and has matching booties. I can’t get enough of them either. I will I was more crafty so I could make these. lol if you were closer I would say come share all our parks we have tons.

    • Thanks for commenting and stopping by. I think we are all in the same boat together. This weather just has been unimaginable. I have lived in the UK 7 years now and its been the worse rain I have seen!!! I moved from Seattle that’s saying something. hahaha

    • Thank you!!! I am obsessed with MM’s hat. My friend made it. So cute, even has matching booties. I am really trying to work with MANUAL mode on my camera, these are ok but not what I had envisioned. lol I am my own worse critic.

  3. I’m desperate for spring with this awful weather we’ve had this January. Hubby took the kids to the park today and said it was packed– everyone is desperate for outdoor play now after all that rain. Lovely moment to capture!

    • Thanks Carin, I know it was rather busy but like you said everyone was desperate for fresh air. We even went mud puddle jumping this afternoon just to get outdoors again. Take advantage the whole day because it wasn’t raining for once. Hope your family enjoyed it.

    • Thanks Sara, I know I am totally obsessed with her hat too. I want in my size. The matching booties are cute too and handy because shoes just come off but those keep her toes warm while we are out and about. I love the park and we are lucky enough to live on a big new estate so there are at least six in walking distances so we never get sick on the same climbing frames or slides. Park hop!!! 😉

  4. What lovely photos Jenny, I love the first one, he looks so cheeky and then the second one is just beautiful too. At least they look nice and bright and colourful amidst this grey horrible weather! I cannot WAIT for Spring! x

    • Thanks Katie, we did have fun even though it was still freezing out. I just plain refuse to stay in the house anymore. lol I am done with the awful weather. Roll on Spring pronto!!! Or even better yet, summer. lol The bright coat colors help make them stand out, which was an accident but I do like those dark bright colors.

    • Thanks Sarah, yes it is. We were starting to get extreme cabin fever here. Yesterday was lovely too. Hoping Feb/March just keep getting better. We love outdoor adventures.
