Pit & Peak of the Week #17

Last updated on March 4th, 2024 at 08:15 pm

It’s Potty Training Week, in this household. There have been good days and there have been bad days but we are trucking through that stage where parents cringe because let’s face it, nobody enjoys potty training. I have been running after Buba with his portable potty, grabbing him and racing to various toilets, trying to keep my floors clean and keep it fun. It’s definitely an exhausting stage for parents. I have never had to keep my eye on him so closely and my attention so fully on him, ever. We are on day six…. may it get better next week.

Welcome to my Pit & Peak of the Week, a therapeutic way for me to vent about my low and rave about my high this week looking back. It’s an unofficial linky, but please feel free to use the badge below and link back to here if you want to write your own Pit & Peak of the Week. Make sure to tell me you linked up in the comments  below and I will come comment and share your post.

Pit: Last week was all about me spilling tomato soup on my linen dining room chairs, still not sure if they are ok. So I can happily say nothing like that happened this week. Although my pit has to be the ‘process’ of potty training. It’s taking it’s toll on me for sure. Six full days of asking him the questions, following him around with the potty, and cleaning up the accidents is a full time job. Poor Missy Moo has been casted aside and left to play independently until I get her brother better at telling me he needs to go.  He seems to get it and do so good one day with no accidents then the next it’s like starting from day one again. Not sure how long this might takes, weeks, months? May week two go better! If you missed week one, click here.

Peak: I have been out all day, and came in to find my twitter page going absolutely crazy. The first message I saw was asking me if I am ok? Have I stopped freaking out yet? So confused. Then low and behold I find out I am on the MAD Blogs shortlist in two separate categories. Something I never thought would ever be possible. I cried, then jumped up and down in the kitchen, there may have been an arm pump, I know I went momentarily nuts but had to quickly pull it together as my best friend’s Dad rang the doorbell to come hang a blind for me. Wipe my face, and take a deep breathe before I opened the door to him. Then ended up blabbing way too loud and way too fast all about what blogging is, and how I got on the shortlist.

MAD Blog Awards

I bet he thought what has this woman smoked today! She is crazy. Thank god he loves me like one of his own. lol What a huge huge HUGE honor and peak to my week.

It truly was a magical moment for me, having only been blogging for six months.

So for all those that voted for me, whomever you are, I can’t thank you enough for all the love and support. It truly means so much to me. Blogging has turned my life around and made it a lot less stressful and lonely living in the UK, far away from all my friends and family and even better it has brought me new friends.

A huge thank you!

  4. Congratulations on your nominations Jenny! As far as potty training is concerned – to be honest I didn’t even bother to try until just after JJ turned three and was showing actual interest in big boy pants, etc. And because he was ready he got it within a week more or less (bar one particularly spectacular accident on the second level of a softplay!). Anyway i never ran around after him with a potty but having said that they are all different and maybe I will end up doing this with EJ! Eek! X

    • I hope I haven’t tried when he is not ready. He seems to be in some areas and others not. It’s day 8 so I feel like I have gone too far no turning back. Aghhh

  5. Congratulations! What an achievement!

As for the potty training, I’m afraid I have no advice there as Harry seems to be a rare breed that just “got it”. Good luck! x

    • Can Harry come teach Buba? hahaha He gets everything else so quickly. He transitioned into a big boy bed no problem. Weaning no problem. Easy baby sleeps amazing always has but this he just isn’t getting and it’s our second attempt and he is almost 3! eeek Thanks for the congrats I was so in shock when I saw I didn’t really believe it. I cried like a baby. lol Such a softy.

    • Thank you ever so much. I feel really honored. Oh potty training went downhill badly yesterday but today so far so good. It seems to be like that up and down. Eeek not fun parenting stage.

    • Oh Nikki I wish you the best of luck. I have tried everything. We attempted back in November and it was a complete disaster but it’s week two this time around and he seems to be getting it. I have learned that this time none of the books or advice has worked on Buba. Stickers and charts and cheering etc None of it. I know it’s not everyone’s cup of tea but if you know that they love something or OBSESSED I should say even if it’s chocolate bribery goes so much farther. Every friend of mine that has potty trained said they used bribery in the end. I used Disney Lighting McQueen underpants and cars to bribe Buba and it seems to be doing the trick now. Not that best parenting advice I ever gave but I wish you the best of luck. I have found it so hard running him to the potty with an 8 month old on my hip too. Some have no problem and just get it. Good luck I hope you are part of that some. 😉
