For those who are on the lookout for some unique adrenaline-pumping adventures, San Francisco won’t let you down. Whether you are looking for an exciting adventure in sea, land, or air, this place has plenty to offer. These thrilling activities would surely be an experience of a lifetime, something worth checking on your bucket list. If you have a few days to spare in the city, make time to try out some of these exhilarating adventures. 

Kite Surfing at Crissy Field 

Crissy Field is popularly known as one of the world’s best spots for sailing, kite surfing, or windsurfing. This place is also known as the ideal location for paragliding offering an amazing view of the Golden Gate Bridge. Take note that this place is not ideal for beginners as the wind could get extremely unpredictable at times. In addition, you also have to consider the wind traffic in the area, as well as boat traffic. For those experienced kite surfers, you can take your Budget Car Rental to the northern part of the San Francisco Peninsula. This is about 30-40 minutes drive from the airport. This place is suited for fairly advanced kite surfers who want to enjoy and train or compete. The best months to visit this place are around March to October. After riding the wind, you can relax at Sandy Beach though it could be packed with people most of the time. 

Mountain Biking in Marin Headlands

After landing from San Francisco airport, you’ll reach Marin Headlands in less than an hour by car. There are plenty of trails in Marin Headlands that you can choose for some heart-pumping adventures. This spot is not only loved by hikers, and campers but bikers as well. If you take the Tennessee Valley Trail, you’ll be immersed in the beauty of different wildflowers and wildlife. Take caution when you are checking out the wildflowers in the area. You might also be biking alongside several horseback riders in the area. As there could be coyotes in the area too, make sure that you are aware of the wildlife protocols. The trail is about 5.8 kilometers long. If you wish to take a longer trail, check out the Gerbode Valley Loop the Bobcat Trail, and the Miwok Trail Loop. Taking the Gerbode Valley Loop provides you with a picturesque view of the Pacific Ocean and San Francisco Bay. 

White Water Rafting at the American River 

If you are heading to the American River, it will take you more than two hours to drive your rental car SFO before reaching this spot. If you are looking for the best spot in the American River for your activity, consider the South and Middle Fork American Rivers. You can also include the Lower Fork American River in your list. The ideal season for white water rafting starts in April until September. No need to worry if you haven’t had any experience yet, there are rafting trips that nonswimmers can take. These are ideals for those who just want to enjoy the water and have some fun. If you are under the intermediate and advanced category, there are challenging rapids and wild canyons designed for people like you. The North Fork area of the American River is ideal for those looking for some adrenaline-pumping, intense wild ride across the extreme rapids. 

Hang Glide at Fort Funston

Fort Funston is just 30 minutes away from the airport. The ideal season for a hang gliding adventure is around early spring until fall of the following year. Though the place is soarable all year round. Gliders should have a current USHPA membership under the Intermediate H3 category. Fort Funston offers cliff launch type and gliders must be at least 25’ away from the public during launching or landing. You also have to be aware of the limitations in altitude as part of the airspace requirement. In addition, make sure to check the tide to ensure that beach landing is possible. There is a huge public parking space in the area for those bringing in their cars with them. 

Surfing at Ocean Beach

Ocean Beach, located at San Francisco’s western edge,  is a 20-minute drive away from San Francisco airport. This is considered a favorite surfing spot for both beginners and experienced surfers. The majority of surfers favored the winter season to visit this place. Along the area, there are plenty of shops where you can rent surfboards and other gear. There are also plenty of shops offering surfing lessons. After catching some waves,  you can stroll down the sandy area or head your way to Golden Gate Park. If you have a pet with you during travel, this is the ideal spot to bring it along.
