Is it Friday already? How can that be? I feel like we were just packing for France last Friday and poof the weekend blurred into the week which came full circle back to Friday again in a blink of an eye. Cliche as it may be but so true. I don’t even know what I actually accomplished this week. It’s one of those where there were numerous doctor and dentists visits and plumbers and roofers in our house. I didn’t get any work done sadly. You know when people told me I would have more time to work during the day because my littlest is now in school, I don’t know where they thought I would squeeze that in.
At the moment, I am still running around grocery shopping, having work done on the house, cleaning and cooking and laundry which I did in the day with my daughter in tow and worked at night. Now, I am supposed to work during the day, do all these things above including any errands with two in school they always need a costume, a bar of chocolate, or something to take to school or for a school project. I have become a school mom PA to both of them. At this rate I will need to go back to working at night where I have no interruptions. I won’t go into how my times the phone rings with a telemarketer or the doorbell goes for the postman for one of the neighbor’s packages because I am the only one home on our entire street and he knows it. Work rant over!
Let’s talk about house maintenance. I know I live in a new build and we have only been in it for six years but this month just because we decided to make some changes things have gone “drip” crazy. I mean, literally dripping water from everywhere. I took a bath and came downstairs to find it had leaked all over our kitchen coming out the spot lights, than I went to bed and looked up to find our roof is leaking in our master bedroom and the fake chimney has to be removed and reroof the corner of the house. Oh the dripping doesn’t stop there, Mr P shouted for me last night while trying to get some work done (the interruptions are endless here) and of course our bathroom sink downstairs is leaky in five places underneath onto the floor. It’s a good thing I have plumbers, handy men, and builders on speed dial these days. 🙁 So our room swamp and loft conversion and new stairs are all on hold until we can get the house to stop dripping everywhere. Wish me good luck! House rant over!
Now on to the things that still made me smile this week. The little things that are normal everyday pleasantries to make life a little less hectic and crazy.
THIS WEEK I AM LOVING…
I am doing well with reading Arrowood all in one weekend in France. Time on the beach and on the plane gave me plenty to dive in and finish it before I returned. It was a good read especially for one I just popped into the grocery cart on the way out. I love a good twist in a story. I am onto The People at Number 9 and a few chapters in it’s holding my attention. I know a few others have been reading this and sharing it online so I thought I would see what the fuss is about. So far so good, man I am full of the cliches today.
I have been listening to more country music lately. I always get in the zone when I am cleaning the house. Lately, I also like to switch it up and try some of the music you all recommend each week. I find as I get older I am branching out of the own comfort zone of what I like and listening to new things more and more. I also been back to studying Spanish so I have been listening to my cds in the car and on my iphone I have a great app that I practice listening and speaking which are my two weaknesses. I have a new goal to learn more Spanish by next summer and be able to talk to my cousins and aunt when I get to America to visit them.
We started a new series on Netfix called WhiteCollar. It doesn’t have anyone that’s familiar in other shows but we have really liked the story lines each episode. We have just started season two and it’s still holding firm. We watched all the Game of Throne episodes in one go so we are missing that and looking for the next series that will entertain us through winter. Someone mentioned Billions but we don’t have sky catch up, if you know where we can catch up with it, shout out! Any other suggestions?
This past weekend in France it was hard to know what to pack. It was so cold and rainy here in England so I couldn’t really wear a summer dress and sandals traveling there but then as soon as we landed we were going out for dinner and drinks with friends so I didn’t want to have jeans and a sweater with ballerina shoes on which is my go to travel outfit. So I wore this off the shoulder white blouse, lose trousers, and pointy black shoes. I thought it still was comfortable but looks less casual than jeans. The side purse I just got from River Island as it fits nicely into my carryon bag but then I could leave that in the car when we got there and take this out for dinner. It’s small enough for evening but big enough to fit my camera and wallet and phone into. Sadly, I loved the look of this top but it didn’t stay down like other off the shoulder tops of mine. But the next day it was super hot so I laid on the beach in my bikini and read my romance books and soaked in as much sunshine as I possibly could.
While I haven’t been cooking as much as I should this week for the Halloween, I have been making some delicious Halloween cocktails to share with you instead. Last week’s Chocolate Pumpkin Spice Martini went down a treat and this week, I have created Vampire’s Fizz with Rich Veuve Clicquot. It’s sweeter than original Veuve Clicquot but just as smooth and tasty. I like the combination of Coulis and Fizz too. This Forest Fruit Vampire’s Fizz is great for celebrations ahead. Don’t forget to enter my new Giveaway to win a bottle of Rich Veuve Clicquot champagne yourself so you can try it too! Enter below and check out my recipe!

Sounds like you enjoyed France. Sorry you’re having so many house problems sounds very stressful.
Seems always come in threes or fours in house breaking problems. Nothing sorted yet plumber didn’t show, handyman rescheduled. We all got sick. I just want it all done for Christmas time.
Just entered your comp, my favourite has to be a Cosmo.
So pleased you had a lovely time away in France, just what you needed, I’d imagine.
I had the best time catching up with you last Friday xx
Definitely what we needed both working so much lately. It came at a good time for us too. Wink Wink. We said we should have been doing this more often years ago. Silly us. Kicking ourselves now it was brilliant. It was fab seeing you hunny. Let’s catch up again soon.
Why is it that everything goes wrong round the home all at once? It’s exactly the same here. Our garden renovations continue and I am utterly sick of them tbh. Can’t wait to have our house back and no more cups of tea for builders! Sounds like you had a gorgeous time in France and lying on the beach too? How lovely. xx
I feel you it was endless for us too and so annoying the weather doesn’t help things either. We had a brilliant quick getaway, very much needed to spend time together. Lying on the beach in October in my bikini felt weird. lol We should have done it years ago more often.
Ooh love your shoes! Glad you had a great time in France, your pics looked lovely. Hope the house problems have sorted themselves out! x
Oh thanks lovely. Plumber still didn’t show up. Grrrr handyman coming to do MM’s curtains and pole she ripped literally out of the whole leaving huge wholes behind her. Kids are hard on houses as much as mother nature.
Oh that trip to France sounds lovely! But hope you get the house stuff sorted soon! My kids are also at school and I still find it difficult to get things done:) By the time I walk the dog and do some errands half the day is gone! x
Oh yes I said that I go to the gym after drop off to kick start my day by the time I have done errands, groceries or gymn and showered it’s lunch time than I only have few hours to work before pick up.
Your trip sounded lovely, perfect weather. You should definitely watch Billions, great series and characters. #littleloves x
We finally got the fire stick from Amazon so we can watch Billions now. It’s next on our list.
Ahhh, I love a classic gin and tonic based cocktail! Yum!
