In our house, we don’t call helping out in the house, chores. It’s more like family contributions which I find is more fair to say as it teaches kids from the very beginning that a home doesn’t take care of its self. You have to contribute your share. Anything else extra outside the family contributions are worth those penny allowances to teach them about money and work. I think kids straight away don’t want to help out when you label it a chore. No one likes chores. I like to make things really fun when the kids are helping out in the house especially when it comes to helping out with dinners. I get my two involved in the preparing, cooking, and setting the table as much as possible from a young age. It’s only fair that we all contribute to what we are eating and my kids absolutely love dinner time.
Since B started school and we have numerous after school classes, swimming and errands to run by time we get home dinner needs to be on the table. On these busy days, (Wed & Fri) MM and I like to get dinner set, cooked and ready to serve before we do the school pick up so when we get in it’s ready to serve. I love these nights where we can make something delicious together and even at almost three years old she is getting good at measuring, following instructions and seeing what goes into preparing dinner for a family of four. I thought I would share a yummy Chicken & Leek Pasta Bake which is super easy to make and one you can do ahead of time and heat up to serve when you all come rushing in the door, starving from a long day. MM will show you just how easy below.

There is nothing better for dinner than a scrumptious cheesy pasta bake. I like that we can make each bowl our own by garnishing it in different ways. The kids absolutely love feta cheese on top of our pasta bakes whilst hubby and I prefer to give it a good kick with Cajun Spice. I pretty much use cajun on all my pastas, pizzas, and even my soups. YUM. All you really need is 1 sachet Schwartz Chicken & Leek Bake Recipe Mix and you can add to any of your favorite pasta combinations. Check out some some of my favorite Cheesy Pasta Bake recipe and try them with a kick. It goes great on this pasta bake with chicken and leek you can choose to add it in before when frying the chicken or on top to serve. Why not add some fresh chives on top too. You can do some many variations of toppings and we love our pasta bakes with fresh hot croissant out of the oven.
Do you like this recipe, why not pin it for later to try out with your family? Get your kids involved in making dinner too. They might surprise you one day by making you dinner for a change.
