My Dressing Table Tour

Growing up with an older sister, I watched many hours of her putting on makeup and getting ready for the day whether it was for school, a date, or night out with her friends. We are ten years apart and she had this gorgeous all glass dressing table that I thought was straight out of a princess movie. When she moved out, she left me that gorgeous dressing table that sat in my room until I started putting on makeup and curling my own hair. I felt so grown up sat there.

Over the years, I have had my designated area to prep myself for the day. In college, it was on the floor with a mirror leaning against my apartment wall, when I got married my mother bought me a gorgeous mini dressing table that I used endless for years, now well not sure if age has anything to do with it but I needed more space to get ready. It takes longer than it ever used to “putting on my face” as my mother and I call it. I need more products which meant I needed more storage space. I wanted a dressing table that could hold all the things I need to get ready for the day without having to walk across the room for various things on the shelf or in a basket or drawer in the night stand.

My new dressing table finally arrived and with it a few new accessories to hold my various beauty must-haves. I was so excited to finally have all my makeup, beauty products, jewellery, perfumes etc all in one place, at arms reach too. I got this gorgeous dressing table from Ikea. It has a glass top so that my makeup can’t stain it like it did the one my mother bought and with a large pull out drawer I can fit everything I need into it using these interlocking storage drawers. It was also so easy to put together. I kept the grey stool from my previous dressing table to go with it.

I love the top of the dressing table to display my new jewellery box from DotComGiftShop, they have a larger one and in gold too. It’s the perfect accessory to hold my daily watch, bracelets, rings, and necklaces so you can see them. I got the gorgeous family charm necklace for Mother’s Day which I will share with you in more detail soon. It’s great to have something personalized to wear and in a jewellery box that can show it off when you aren’t wearing it too.

Next I got a new mirror with lights on it. It was a stand alone one so I didn’t have to drill into the wall and I love how tall it is giving me ample viewing for doing my hair and seeing my outfits. I bought the cheaper version so the lights don’t really help with applying your makeup but there is a more expensive one that really have amazing lightening on it. I am saving up for that one someday.

Of course, along with my makeup, I needed a place for all my brushes. They used to be in a makeup tote shoved under my stool but now they can be displayed nicely on top of my dressing table. It has three different sections to hold brushes, q-tips, and more.

Along with some of my favorite perfumes like Michael Kors Wonderlust (it’s lustful for sure) I have a little mini flower arrangement. Flowers and greenery in the house always make a room cozier and pretty. I kill most plants so I have to buy fake ones but I love this one really adds to the whole room.

Did you catch my Scandinavian Gallery Wall & Shelves post? I have one more poster to hang that fell off but I think it really goes way better now above my dressing table instead of above the bed which I have now moved to the other wall. The room feels more open and spacious this way. I have a room tour coming soon so keep watch.

    • Great minds think alike. I love this table with the glass on top so much easier to keep clean from makeup spills. My last vanity was ruined completely. Thanks hunny you are so so sweet. Everything in your house looks dreamy!!! I am in envy each time and your wardrobe too.

  1. Oh Jenny it look amazing, I love how organised and neat it is in side, that really puts my make up to shame, I just have it all stuffed in a drawer in the bathroom. I would love a dressing table like this!
