How can Friday be upon us already? This week, has been a blur of illnesses, running around and constant tears in this house and not just from the children. It’s one of those weeks, I don’t wish to repeat. I am glad to see the back of it and hoping this weekend goes a lot smoother. It’s hard to keep in mind the kids are exhausted and not feeling 100% when they are throwing tantrums and crying in the middle of Tesco for something. It’s even harder when I now feel icky all over too. They do love to share, germs included.
While I am not about to throw myself a pity party, I have been scoping out the internet for some halloween costumes. Not long until the spooky holiday and I swear I leave it until so late each year. The precious years before I have always matched my duo as Mickey and Minnie or Pebbles and Bambam. This year, they don’t want to match for the first time. I am sad that I didn’t get to do it a little longer. B wants to be Batman, and MM wants to be Doc McStuffins so here I am shopping online for their preferred costumes. I was hoping they would go a bit wilder and out of the normal costumes that everyone will be wearing. This is where I need to just step back and let them be what they want. Do you pick your children’s costumes or let them?
THIS WEEK I AM LOVING… (Mostly Daddy being home!)
I am on a mission to finish my two books I bought the other week, Me Before You and After You. I have stayed clear of the movie and anything about it. So far it’s a good book but I just haven’t had enough time to dive in. I also have been reading and following Jess’ blog, Catch a Single Thought. She is constantly reading and putting me to shame. I just finished reading her thoughts on September’s Books roundup. The only one I have recently read is I See You which I highly recommend. The others are now on my to read list. She vlogs about her reading journey too. Check her out and be inspired.
Have you heard of “bullet journals”? Well, of course you have they are taken the internet by storm along with instagram. I have been a bit skeptical that it’s really working for me or not but after a few weeks of writing lists and inputting dates in diaries and on fridge calendars, I realized I need a ONE place for everything. There is just too many things to coordinate with in our busy family lives as well as work. No one wants to carry around numerous journals, diaries, lists, and calendars. Whilst I am no artist so the creative part of making it look pretty doesn’t come easy to me, nor does the line drawing the ability to write whatever I want on the pages, one after another, is so helpful. It can be one page of my calendar and than the next can be a master to do list. It’s whatever I want it to be. I have never liked an electronic diary. What if my phone dies or the app goes down or meetings get messed up in the setting up. Writing on paper is so much better and I actually remember more things if I have written them down. I still have a long way to go before I am truly convince that it isn’t just taking hours of my week up doodling and drawing lines. Verdict still out!
I am still obsessed and binge watching the Vampire Diaries. Yup, I am sad. I am in the middle of Season 5 so only one more to go and you will stop hearing about it from me. If you don’t think it’s for you, watch the first three episodes and then decide. I was skeptical too. Hubby and I are still watching a few episodes here and there of Game of Thrones. At first, I was thinking why does the world love this so much…now I see. It’s fab once you wrap your head around the different families. What else are you all watching this week?
I have been wearing denim everything this week which is so unlike my usual style. Its very casual but comfy. I have had my pale light jeans on along with this denim button dress. I haven’t gone as far as a denim jacket yet but there is still plenty of time for that. My style seems to change from week to week but stays within it’s own style for the week. It’s like I wake up on Monday and think denim and that’s all I wear until the following Monday where it might be black all week. Who knows! Do you ever fall into a wardrobe pattern of outfits?
We are gearing up for Halloween here and there isn’t anything better than eating candy corn except, of course, Candy Corn Halloween Brownies. These were a huge hit in my husband’s office this week. Definitely worth trying and if you can’t find candy corn in the U.K.
#LIFECLOSEUP this week has taken on a whole Autumn feeling. The colors, the pumpkins, the outfits of layers, and let’s not forget conkers! It all screams Fall is upon us. I love the Fall, this time of year, the crisp air and the sunshine is so beautiful. Won’t you come join me in sharing your zoomed in captures of everyday life. Click the instagram button below to take you to these beautiful feeds and my own if you fancy it! Let’s get snapping and sharing.
I’ve never tried candy corn – what is it like? I am so unorganised this year for Halloween! Good luck with the bullet journal! I can’t get my head around them! x
I think I’ve accidentally been bullet journaling at work for years, it’s how I start my Monday so it’s been funny to see it pop up on Instagram and You tube and recognise it! What flavour is candy corn meant to be? We bought some last year expecting it to be like jelly babies and it wasn’t a hit around here, we just couldn’t work out what we were supposed to be tasting!!
I now want candycorn and am also in love with that denim dress! Beautiful pictures lovely!
I love candycorn you can buy it in the UK at American Soda online along with so many other American favorites. Thank you so much denim dresses are great spring, summer, fall and winter. They look great with black leggings too so I live in it.
I soon got bored of the doodling part of bullet journaling but the fundamental parts I couldn’t live without. Moving lists from day to day keep me sane! x
Love that we’ve both mentioned bullet journaling this week! I’d be lost without mine already, though I think making it pretty won’t last long.
I really like that denim dress on you, really pretty xx
Hope you having a better week Jenny. I hate those weeks when nothing goes to plan and you could quite happily hide in bed. My 10 year old has created her costume all by herself this year. She will be dressing up as Harley Quinn (someone from the Marvel movie I think). Thankfully she is way more creative than me so I just leave her to it #littleloves x
I love your Instagram and the #LifeCloseUp tag. How great that it’s all turning autumnal. I also love the look of Candy Corn – it’s all over Pinterest, isn’t it? I have no idea how it tastes, but it looks good! Although a Brit, I was married in New England in the Fall, so it’s extra special for me! I’ll definitely be looking out for more of your Fall stuff! #LittleLoves
Oh we LOVED Game of Thrones, stick with it. I think i’m interested in trying a bullet journal, I need to do some research. That brownie looks so yummy. I hope you are feeling better soon x
Wow wow wow those brownies look amazing!
I’m sorry to hear that the week wasn’t a good one. (I’m a bit behind with my Little Loves commenting) I do hope that this past week has been better for you.
