Happy Summers ahead + Olympus Pen Giveaway

Last updated on May 5th, 2024 at 02:25 pm

Where do you spend your summers? Is it staying at home and playing in the back garden or is it abroad on a beach or perhaps on the coast? Maybe your summers are split up between vacations and chill out time at home? Whatever they may be, I hope they are with family.

It’s no secret, I love my summers back home in America with my kids. I love sharing every aspect of my homeland, culture, family, friends and all that I grew up with each and every summer with them. We are always greeted with the hot sunshine of summer. Each year, we make so many memories together and my kids get to live the summer life that I had growing up. I hope that I can always give them happy summers with family all around them.

This year, I can’t wait to go home where I can live a slower pace of life, a simpler life and heal all those wounds with family around from a tough year of my Dad battling cancer. There really is nothing better than coming home to the place you feel most comfortable and at peace. The welcome, the love, the support, the comfort that home provides and so many more bonuses are always waiting for me with open arms. It really is the best medicine and I am sure the kids’ laughter and sunshine help me too as much as it does them good.

Our first camping trip in America

They come alive too. They love that we are not constantly rushing in the car to go somewhere. We are silly, and run around exploring the woods. We swim in the rivers, lakes, and pool to cool off.  We camp with friends. The sun is always shining when we wake up, basking us with it’s rays. That Vitamin D really does warm the soul too. The fresh air does the kids so much good too. There seems to be less bickering by them and a lot less shouting by me. That was one of my goals to learn how to speak to my children again and stop immediately shouting for them to stop it or be nice or whatever it is that has them whining. I think when you are rushing around and busy all the time your patient levels drop drastically or at least they do for me.

Our happy summers with family are all about spending as much time with extended family and friends as possible, having fun in the sun, and really paying extra special attention to each other. I want to put my camera, phone, laptop, or even my book down more and play with them, get down to their level and teach them more too. I want to experience more with them than ever before. They are only little once and it’s so important to take advantage of the time we have together as a family. I am sure it’s the same around the world, parents alike working to create those amazing happy summers for the kids. Summer memories are what takes up most of our childhood memories as adults when we reminisce and look back. What happy summer memories do you have?

  3. Ahhh, you paint such a vivid picture of what it’s like to return home. Luckily, I’m so close to my own parents and still live in my hometown so I can only imagine what it’s like to travel back. LOVE the Million Eyez app – and loved seeing others photos. Think I spotted Croyde Beach in there?!
