Jean Jackets, Mixed Metallics, and Cinnamon Caramel

Happy FriYay!

I haven’t been able to say that in a really long time. The tide as turned, we have had closer with my Grandma’s funeral and great news that my Dad could finish his recovery from stomach being removed and chemo at home with my mother. I feel like a ton of bricks has been lifted off my shoulders all at once. He still has a bit to go but the doctors are positive. I felt like I had been holding my breathe for months now. I finally can breathe easier now.

I also am off for one night spa getaway with a big group of friends for a 40th Birthday celebration on Saturday. I am in need of a chilled out time with friends, laughing and joking and just chatting. I haven’t seen them in so long.

I also got asked to speak at Blog On MOSI in September. I am both honored and scared to death to public speak but it’s something I always wanted to do. It’s a challenge and a great experience all wrapped into one. Now, let’s hope I don’t disappoint anyone rambling for 45 minutes and that I don’t freak out for the next 7 months over it too. Wish me luck!

 THIS WEEK I AM LOVING:

I have just ordered Six of Crows and A Boy Made Out of Blocks, both highly recommended by a friend. Sadly, I haven’t been able to read this week so I still have twenty pages left of King’s Cage. I was doing so well on the reading and this week it just didn’t happen.  I haven’t worked this many hours (not complaining) in one week but I was tired. I will make up for it as soon as I finish my to do list.

Have you heard that I have been painting and putting final touches on our back room. Took me four weeks just to pick a color. The husband was less enthused about 12 variations of one color splashed on the wall in my haze to decide. But I have decided that I am going with a dust pink and decorating it with copper and silver mixed metallics throughout the room. I wasn’t sure how silver and copper would look but I absolutely love it. I am sure everyone has already mixed these two metallics up before and it’s raving somewhere like five years ago but I am always late to the party and can’t wait to add some silver/copper and pale pink fun cushions too.

I am loving the house being cleared out and decluttered. At the beginning of the year, I slowly started clearing out cabinets, closets, wardrobes, boxes, loft, and the garage. It’s been a huge project but every place is now clear, organized and refreshed. I just have about six big items to sell left on ebay. Have you watched my How to Organize a Hallway Closet? It’s got some fab bargains from H&M Home too, have a peak below.

Also, we have had a few sunny spells this week so we have been taking advantage and watching MM learn how to ride a bike. We have been practicing on a balance bike and she is getting really good. I am so proud of her. She is fearless.

It’s another feature from my littlest of the household. She is taking over the fashion section for the past few weeks. Hard not to when she keeps growing out of all her clothes and needing new ones. I love saying goodbye to winter and taking all the layers off so we can showcase outfits better.

This week, MM is strutting a gorgeous jean jacket from The Essential One. Have you seen their new toddler range? It’s gorgeous. This is the perfect jacket for Spring and the amazing detail on it is beautiful. She has been acting like a threenagers recently so only fitting she dresses like one too. It makes her look so grown up.

I have a few treats to share with you all. I know pancake day was last week but I made the most amazing pancakes and didn’t have a chance to share them and I just can’t help it, late or not, here is a sneak peak of our Cinnamon Caramel Cake Batter Pancakes. It’s a good reason to keep pancake day going long after the date. I couldn’t stop eating them. The combination of cinnamon, salted caramel, walnuts, and pomegranate was perfection but that’s tooting my own horn now isn’t it?

There was so much going on last week, with World Book Day, Pancake Day, Parents Evening for most schools, it’s no wonder we all feel like our children’s PAs and exhausted. Instagram was flooding with snaps of each event and I couldn’t help but pick a few favorites from #LIFECLOSEUP instagram hashtag community that fit in. You also can tell Spring is among us with everyone’s bright outdoor captures. If you haven’t already come join us in sharing your zoomed in captures of life whatever they may be.
