Phew, it’s all in the title folks, we have been so busy the last few weeks, it’s not even funny. I think if I sat down I would either kill over in pure exhaustion or my head would just spin in circles and never stop. It’s our last week in the UK next week, for the summer so we are trying to tie up everything we possibly can before we leave. With it being the end of the year, B has more events like sports day, summer fair and non uniform days coming out my ears. Then with MM starting school in September she has had teacher meetings, parents evening at preschool for transitioning, taster school days and uniforms being ordered for both. On top of that, our garden renovations and bedroom makeovers and a few house problems have all seem to come at the same time. Typical isn’t it?
I think I have been up at 7 am and in bed by 2 or 3 am almost a week straight. Then I had Father’s Day and MM’s birthday and her party the following week with new school friends it’s all just got a bit much on my plate. I had six deadlines in the mix so I can’t complain about not having work but also why doesn’t it always come when we are busy and not when we have nothing on. Typical again isn’t it?
But I love being busy and anyone that knows me will say I pack in as much as possible in our days so this shouldn’t be a surprise. It’s just the little things that weren’t on my to do list that keep creeping in making it take twice as long. A few garden hiccups, a leaking roof hiccup, luggage hiccups and more. I am at the end of it though tomorrow is Friday. I only have two deadlines before we leave next week. I got new luggage, garden will be almost finished – check out my ig stories for updates. It’s coming along nicely now. I got the roof fixed and finished making over our bedroom. Everything for new school starter and end of the year school events are all over too. I call that a WIN!
THIS WEEK I AM LOVING…
Somehow in the mix of the above I finished my book from two weeks ago, The Couple Next Door. It’s taken me longer than normal to finish. Not because it wasn’t good, because it was and I didn’t guess the ending like I normally do. I got this one yesterday with the milk and bread. Can’t beat a book from the grocery store. I don’t know what to expect but it will give my over worked brain some much needed time off this weekend.
So last week, seven other bloggers and myself included starting a NEW LINKY called “Snapshots & Scenes”. It’s a monthly linking to help those wanting to learn vlogging to work and learn as they go along by making little clips throughout the month and putting them together in a 60 second video. This is great too because you can share the 60 second videos now on instagram. Or if vlogging isn’t your thing but you want to get creative and learn more with your photography join in with your favorites from your camera roll that you don’t usually get to share on your blog in a monthly roundup style. You can do either or both. Here is my Scenes in July video below and you can see my Snapshots of July from my camera roll and link up too. It’s open all month long and new one opens first Monday of each month.
I watched MM learn how to celebrate her birthday in style. I wanted to make MM’s fourth birthday really special. A girlie day with our besties. Mostly because she is about to start school and her birthday will more often than not fall on a school day. My friend and I took our two girls first to grab some coffee and cinnamon rolls for breakfast. It’s as close as I could get to giving cake for her breakfast. This was big for me as I hate giving my kids sugar. Then we went bowling. I was surprisingly better than I remembered it’s been years. We did some girlie shopping as MM had her first vouchers to spend ever. She was like a kid in a candy shop picking new sandals and a new dress. See our video below to catch her being handed her shopping bags by the lady at the shop. It’s priceless. Little diva in the making with her shades on even. She wore her party hat literally all day which made me laugh. Next was afternoon tea together. The four of us stuffed our faces with more cake than any adult or child should ever consume in a month let alone a day. She even had a dance session in the middle of the restaurant. EEEK! Then it was swimming lessons, family dinner, more cake and presents. Oh my, it was a day to remember. Would love you to watch my DITL of a Birthday Girl below!
A cheeky sneak peak at my new master bedroom. I have no time for a room tour before I leave I don’t think so I wanted to share my love for this new mirror. I am doing more fashion posts a lot on my blog and so I needed to upgrade my skinny tiny mirror and I love this one from Next. Also, it was not on purpose but I was matching my outfit to the bedroom here. Living back in my skinny jeans while the weather decides what it wants to be hot or cold? Anyone else fed up with the back and forth?
Another sneak peak… I made this delicious Vegetarian Mango, Lime and Chilli Potato bowl this week. Recipe will be live next week but I couldn’t resist showing it off. It came out as tasty as it did beautiful. I will be sharing more vegetarian meals throughout the summer as I will be creating and cooking for my dad who now has no stomach and needs a special diet. This was delicious I must say. What’s your favorite vegetarian dish???
I have been showcasing my #lifecloseup hashtag favorite features about every five photos on my instagram only because there are so many joining in I want to get the chance to shout out to all the new instagrammers joining in each week. It’s such a lovely community. Come join us in sharing your life in zoom! Check out these amazing feeds. Click the photo to be taken directly to the community.

Honestly, I have no idea how you manage to squeeze everything into your days. You’ll be so pleased to head off to the US for your summer vacation. I really love the idea your new Snapshots & Scenes linky – I really want to try and get in front of the camera more often.

Wow Jenny I’m exhausted just reading about how busy you have been ! you sure deserve that Summer break. Your daughters birthday sounds wonderful, it’s lovely to treat them to something special on their birthdays isn’t it. Hope you’ve had a lovely (less busy) weekend x
Sounds like you have been mega busy Jenny and I bet you can’t wait to get to America and relax with your family. Aw I love your video of MM birthday, looks a perfect way to celebrate when you are 4. I have been loving your IG stories of your garden. Can’t wait for you to share when it’s all finished x
Your bedroom looks gorgeous, it’s got that stylish boutique hotel vibe going on and that mirror is the perfect addition.
So pleased MM had such a fun birthday, I can’t believe how fast she is growing up! xx
Yes, I know exactly what you mean about the busy weeks with all things school related at the moment. Nearly there though. What a great idea about the linky. I haven’t got into vlogging. I can’t imagine I’d be any good at it – not a natural in front of the camera at all!
That vegetarian dish looks delicious, I’m veggie and always looking for inspiration so look forward to reading your ideas. Its so difficult to name a single favourite vegetarian dish at this time of year I love salads and maybe a light filo pastry with feta, olives etc.. I think your girlie birthday treat was inspired. I love a date with just one of my children, it makes them feel special and they really speak and share things with you. Have a safe flight and a fantastic holiday.
