Phew! What a Easter holiday it’s been so far. Did you miss us? We have been in Ireland for the term holidays and actually as you read this we still aren’t back to school. I know! It seems we are the last standing on the holiday front while everyone else is back to routines. We only just got home from visiting friends and family for Easter. I love going to Ireland via the ferry even if it makes me sicker than a dog every time. The kids are mesmerized by the experience and actually we went on the fast ferry boats this time and I wasn’t nearly as sick as last time. It just means we can have our car and all our things with us on the other end which makes things like car seats and bring my coffee machine with me easier.
Yes, I take my Nespresso machine on holiday with me. Don’t you? In my defence, we stay at a house in the family that is no longer inhabitant. So we pretty much bring everything to live there for awhile. I can’t live without coffee. We had the best time and I will be sharing more of our Irish adventures soon as I get them all downloaded. But it’s been a great Easter break and we still have plenty planned for the last weekend ahead to end it on a great note!
THIS WEEK I AM LOVING…
I finished all of Leigh Bardugo books. I enjoyed the switch of genre that I normally read. At the moment, I have been reading Lauren Graham from Gilmore Girls books: Talking As Fast As You Can (avoid if you haven’t finished spoiler alerts) and her first novel Someday, Someday, Maybe which was based on parts of her life too. Great easy reads. I am in need of a big book shopping spree now. Any suggestions?
One of my favorite days while we were in Ireland was finding a surfers cove on the west coast near Westport. We went to Westport for shopping and lunch before heading down the Wild Atlantic Way to Galway for a night away. It was time needed just the two of us for one night. I sat listening to the waves that were literally bigger than my head that crazy surfers were attempting to surf on. It was something beautiful to hear… so soothing. We got to be big kids running along the beach rather than running after the kids. We took in the view and just sat listening to mother nature. It was lovely just walking hand in hand and having adult moments together without a child or two begging for our attention.
Have you watched my latest vlog? I am still, attempting to do a weekly vlog. I have two more coming next week for you if I can get them downloaded and edited. I hate memory or rather my laptop hates me trying to push the memory boundaries. But here is our Day In The Life of a Friday for us before we went on our trip!
I didn’t capture any outfits while I was there. The weather was definitely all over. We could be in wellies in the morning and hats than back to sandals and no coats. You probably saw the fluctuation in the kids outfits over on my instagram while I holiday spammed you all. It was crazy. But I got to capture this one with my lovely friend Emma from Life at the Little Wood blog. Her blog is amazing as much as she is…. and the fashionista always looks amazing even when she was under the weather bless her. I have been wearing this blazer I got from River Island and these corduroy pants from Next together a lot for Spring. While I normally wear my pink high heel boots with my white shoes from New Look were needed for a long park walk with friends.
Making silly faces… does that actually count. I think so! These two have been the happiest exploring the great outdoors of Ireland from parks, castles to the cow fields. We have been getting creative on what to do while we are outside and putting those ipads away for the whole Easter holidays. We were getting far too depend on them and it just made everyone cranky. I am cracked down on how often I even let them out of the cupboard at home. There is no need when it’s starting to get nice out and lighter evenings. We should all be outside getting fresh air. It’s done my two a world of good. They have been happier, seem healthier and nicer to each other and in general with their silly faces and having fun. We made the most of those moments together even just playing outside their great-grandparents house that we stay at. I love that they can have such a blast in a grassy field and using their imagination to make up games. Who needs an ipad? Ok, maybe that’s too far, my 26 hour journey to my parents house definitely calls for ipads this summer.
Since we were with a wifi that was in and out while we were away, I didn’t get a chance to share my favorite features last week for my hashtag community #LIFECLOSEUP over on INSTAGRAM. This community has filled me with so much joy and happiness each and every week I go through it. The photos are amazing and so many new faces joining in. We are almost at 60+K WOW!!!!! That just makes me smile from inside my belly all the way to my face. Here is last week’s amazing snaps ….. and below is this week favorite instagrammers.
NOW, remember these don’t just have to be family snaps, check out all the food, style, fashion, interiors and more zoomed in captures of life. ALL PHOTOS ON ZOOM ARE WELCOME! So please come join us in sharing your photos! I would love to see what your snaps up and what you love to share.

Oh Jenny it sounds as if you have all had the best time away! What a wonderful break in such a beautiful part of the world. I love the pic of you and Emma, it’s so lovely that you guys get to spend time together and with your families too. As soon as your kids are back in school we just have to have coffee date to catch up, it’s been far too long. xxx
You’ll have to go to sligo next time. 🙂 Strandhill is beautiful. I miss it a bit since we moved to the east of Ireland but not as much because it’s mostly raining in the west. Haha
Wow, your Easter breaks sounds like it was wonderful! Love your video, I love a day in the life Vlog! Have a wonderful weekend xx
I liked Talking As Fast I Can – I didn’t know she studied English and I love her writing style. It makes me feel like she really is like Loralei in real life. I need to read her novel now.
I know I feel the very same. I think that’s why she was the perfect one for that character she is very much the same in real life she said in an interview once. I also think they let her run with the script so Lorelai is alot of her sharing her own wittiness. If that makes sense. I haven’t finished it yet though saving it. lol Don’t want it to end.
Sounds like you have had a great holiday. I love the sound of your night away without the kids. 60k is very impressive! I’ve just noticed mine has made it to 600 (which I was pleased with in 7 weeks). Have a lovely weekend.
Your trip to Ireland sounds fantastic. You did make me laugh taking your coffee machine with you, but then I’d never survive without my coffee so I’d probably do the same! I’m dreaming of a night away with my partner when we’re staying with family in July – can’t wait! Love your jacket, it’s gorgeous! Hope you have a great week x
I love that you take your coffee machine on holiday with you – hilarious and practical in equal measure. You and Emma look so happy together, you gorgeous pair! x
