The weekend has arrived. We don’t have much planned other than our normal sports activities of soccer and gymnastics for the kids. I am hoping the weather is nice though on Sunday so we can go for a spontaneous family day out. Those are always my favorite days, the unplanned ones that we just let the road take us. I might be bold and pack a picnic too. Can you tell I am longing for Spring.
I am on the mend from bronchitis which flared my vertigo up badly this week. So it’s been a tough one for me in terms of trying to get work done, run the kids here, there, and everywhere. My fevers still are coming in and out which just make me super hot one one moment and then super cold the next. I have come to the weekend though with the mindset that I refuse to let this keep me down any longer. I have work to catch up on, fun to be had with the kids, and I am tired of being sick and mopey. I am putting my big girl panties on and I am smiling through it.
THIS WEEK I AM LOVING…
I have started reading Present Over Perfect this week. After seeing it on another blogger’s little loves as a recommend. I think it’s the type of book I need to read right now. Motivate me to live life in the moment more than on the fast track. I am a perfectionist at heart so it’s not always easy for me to let things slide that don’t really matter. I finished The Power and Caraval. The Power, was part of the Bookish Mamas Book Club choice. It was darker than expected and probably not one I would reread but it was definitely different. Caraval is a new favorite, I read it in a day.
I heard this week about the new facebook, instagram, and youtube changes. Did you freak out immediately like I did? I am sure I am not the only one that lives in fear of it’s forever changing algorithms and rules. It’s a constant battle for the little business like me to keep up with the ones that are at the top taking over the new changes and eating it up like butter. But I think we all need to just keep doing our best, working our hardest and trucking through it. These things sometimes have a full circle effect and I am just praying that it comes back to normal someday. Or I am just living in denial. Either way, I am trying not to let it affect my work and just keep loving, sharing and working as hard as I can and hope the universe repays me for it.
We had a lovely day out at the waterpark, the weather was so awful we decided to hop in the car and me and the kids go for a swim. I watched them hurl down water slides, around lazy rivers, dive into big wave pools all day. It was great exercise for me and bump too, even attempting our own water slide which had to be a sight for sore eyes. haha
This week’s vlog, was a big maternity shopping haul. I have been living in these gorgeous Jojo Maman Bebe outfits this week. Especially the knit sweaters because it’s been absolutely freezing outside still.
I have been turning store bought soup into delicious homemade creations. Sometimes I don’t always have time to make it all from scratch but that doesn’t stop me from adding a little extra to give it that homemade taste. What do you add to your soups? Check out my top tips to make any store bought soup that much more tasty in my post coming up. Stay tuned.

I have that book on my shelf to read from last year! Sounds like you all had a great day at the waterpark. I absolutely love that striped cardigan, it looks lovely. Enjoy your weekend xx
Waterpark was fab. Can’t beat a good book. Thanks hunny hope you had a good one too.
I love a good soup! I hate that social media has to keep changing, I’m not sure who they think is really benefiting! Hope you feel better asap, I’ve been suffering with vertigo, horrid 🙁 #littleloves
It’s warming and hearty straight to the soul isn’t it? I know what you mean I think it’s only ever about helping big business and business making decisions nothing about the common user experience sadly. I am always last to understand or know it.
Ps oh no just pushed send too soon. Vertigo is awful and I am so sorry to hear you got it too. It’s killing me at the minute. I don’t wish it upon anyone.
Great idea about soups!
Thank you.
Ooh, I’ve been looking for more book blogger communities to join. I’ll check out Bookish Mamas 🙂
Oh yes come join it’s first month reading The Power.
I loved your idea of customizing store-bought soups! I might copy you on that one – haha! The cardigan suits you really well! It’s too bad I’m not expecting, otherwise, I would have bought it x
Oh yes sometimes I am just too busy to make a homemade batch this gives it a fab added homemade flavor to it. Keeps them tasting different every time. Oh thanks I think I will Kong wear it after baby arrives too.
Sorry you’ve been unwell hope you’re feeling much better now! I wonder if that Sunday walk happened with all the snow that fell around the country this morning?! Yes heard about the instagram changes although I don;t really get them to be honest! That soup looks delicious… will definitely keep an eye out for the up coming post! x #littleloves
Oh thanks hunny soup toppings came out amazing. Love a good soup. No sadly today was completely written off the weather went nuts. On the mend slowly but surely thanks.
It’s great to hear you are on the mend, it’s hard not to let it get you down when illness drags on isn’t it. The soup looks delicious, I’ve never thought about adding my own ingredients to store bought soup, that’s clever ! I hope you have had a fun weekend x #LittleLoves
Oh yes makes those store bought ones so tasty when you don’t have time to make it yourself. This virus is just lingering forever. Roll on new week.
The new YouTube rules are really frustrating and it feels like they are constantly making it harder and harder to be seen. The water park sounds like loads of fun I wish we had something like that near us x
Oh they really are I am so fed up with all the changes and trying to work harder and harder and it’s just never getting to the top. The water park it’s a great solution to a rainy day.
So sorry to hear you’ve been suffering with illness and hope you’re feeling a lot better. Ah, I read Present Over Perfect last year and just loved it. For me, it came exactly at the right time xx
Thanks Gail so sweet of you. It’s been an abnormally long winter with bugs in this house. Hope spring has more to offer me other than a new baby good health too. I think this book came at the right time for me too.
I really hope you’re feeling better now after last week. I can’t imagine having to cope with vertigo, it sounds awful.
You know I loved Present Over Perfect, it is such a lovely reminder to step away from striving for perfection and to enjoy the moment here and now, whatever it looks like. xx
Well you know me it’s the perfect book for me to get hit with a few times over the head too as I am awful at striving to do it all, more and more and perfectly or I am so hard on myself. It’s something I am working on in my thirties to rid of it completely. But hard to teach an old dog new tricks. At least I have good friends to remind me and help me get there. 😉
That soup looks so good. I love the pea & ham version. I hope you’ve had a better week on the health front x
