It’s been a dark and rough month for us in January plagued with unknown rashes, illnesses and swollen eyes shut. Yup, we just really wanted to get it all out of our system at the start of the year, I guess. But I am not letting it consume us anymore. We still have had some lovely days out, walking along the canal even in the cold and fog. There seems to be a lot of fog at the moment around us. I wish it would lift. I am missing the blue skies and sunshine that makes us all feel more energetic and healthy. I feel like the month ahead we will get that seasonal change that we need and earn for.
We also have kept January a quiet month with not much in the diary on purpose this year. We were constantly on the go last year and we just needed some time to plan out the year’s holidays and stay home to catch some much needed family chill out time. We have had painting afternoons and movie days in living dens and I have loved every minute of it. I feel less stressed out and less pressured to make some huge happen every weekend. Having said that though I am looking forward to some trips this year and some fun days out tentatively planned for next month. We are also hoping to catch up with friends we haven’t seen in a while too.
MOMMY IS LOVING:
Reading The Grisha Trilogy
Watching Gilmore Girls from the very start.
Clearing out the house, completely, every cabinet/cupboard.
DADDY IS LOVING:
Golfing.
Watching Tiger Woods again (even though he is crap).
His new car.
BUBA IS LOVING:
Going to lunch with Granddad.
Building harder Legos (age 14!).
Having his friends from school over to play.
MISSY MOO IS LOVING:
Starting proper Preschool now.
Scooting through the park.
Painting like Picasso on canvas none stop.
We have found a new little spot to go for walks along the canal near where we live. It’s fun for the kids to see the boats. It’s somewhere new to roam around in the fresh air. We have lived in this area since B was born but we hardly do much in our own town. There is still so many more places to seek out and explore so this is our mission this year as a family. We have set some family goals that we want to achieve together too.
We are looking forward to February and some time off just at home. We aren’t going anywhere this half term but the kids have a few craft requests, playdates planned and I am praying the weather is nice for us to get outdoors for most of it. There is nothing better than fresh air and our weekend park life as a family. Roll on to February than Spring for longer and lighter days. I can’t wait! Not that I am wishing my life away, just January away which I think is reasonable.
It’s such a lovely family photo project to join in on. Don’t forget to check out the fab host and cohosts of this family project and see their gorgeous families too. Our beautiful Host and Creator Lucy, and our Cohosts with a new addition this year too: Alex, Charlotte, Fritha, Katie and Lucy.
Oh I’m with you in wanting February to roll on in – we have had so many bugs and so much business in January it’s crazy! Your canal looks a beautiful spot to explore – even in the cold and grey and I love MM’s pop of colour – she’d cheer up any day 🙂
Oh yes that coat can light up the sea for sure. I love it. It’s a lovely new spot to explore and a great find from Daddy believe it or not. We had a good time with these and I am hoping it helps make the family photo taking this year easier and less bribing happening.
Your poor eye. These are adorable photos though and I love MM’s yellow coat! Let’s meet up soon, I owe you lunch. xxx
OH I think it’s my turn to buy!!! Yes definitely. You name your day girl we will have a good catch up for sure. My eye grrr I don’t even want to give it a moments thought its frustrating me. Thanks hunny. Although her yellow coat is bright and lovely because it’s unique it seems it’s in every photo I take at the moment because it’s soooo cold still out. lol
Really sweet photos Jenny. I hope February is kind to you and taking things slow and appreciating what is around us is what I love the best about a fresh new year x
I hope and pray so too hunny. I feel it. I am full of positivity moving forward despite everything. I love a good clear out and taking things slow at first at the start of the year. Glad I am not the only one.
She has gotten so tall. I am in the middle of clearing out a lot too.
She really has and definitely catching up with her brother pronto. Makes me laugh as I am so short but I was tall at her age than all my friends than I just stopped growing and everyone else didn’t. lol Thanks lovely.
I love how bright and colourful your little lady’s outfit is! Sounds like the bugs struck you down too. We had a month of germs in this house.
Thanks so much she loves the bright clothes. They suit her bright personality. lol Hope everyone is on the mend.
These are lovely photos, I cannot wait for the brighter weather, this fog and frost is depressing. I have been watching Gilmore girls too, I am hooked I think I might be depressed when I finish it haha. xx
It really is depressing I wish it would clear and blue skies would come to warm us. I am hooked just wish I had more time to watch it. But I also don’t want to rush through it and not have them to watch anymore. I am the same.
Beautiful pictures. I am ready for January to be over too, I really hope Feb is kinder to you all xx
Roll on February indeed. We’ve been plagued by illnesses since before our wedding and it’s been awful. These photos are beautiful and capture your family so well. Hope you have a wonderful Feb and I can’t wait to see the next photo. Love MM’s yellow coat, nothing like a bit of sunshine on a grey day xx
Love all your gorgeous photos and am looking forward to joining in this year too. Hope February is a better month health wise for you all aswell xx
Such lovely photos Jenny, you have such a beautiful family. I hope you all enjoyed your relaxing January, sometimes it’s good to take time out and just enjoy being at home 🙂 x
Such lovely photos of you all Jenny and you do sound so much happier and more relaxed, it’s really lovely to see and hear about. Sometimes I think not putting too much pressure on yourself really helps. We haven’t got anything booked in the diary at all and it feels really good, I am just concentrating on making the house all nice for Spring. Although I do hope there’s less bugs in your house in February! xx
It sounds like January was a hard month for many, I hope February brings you all much better days although I am a real sucker for the winter weather – I love it! We are guilty for not visiting the areas close to us and this year want to be better at finding the hidden treasures within Hampshire. I’ve also seen lots of posts about Gilmore Girls and I am intrigued x
You all look relaxed and refreshed, lovely photo’s! I think a lot of us have been bogged down by sickness but hopefully February brings some brighter and healthier days. February will be my month for doing a clear out, it feels so good doesn’t it?! 🙂 xx
Thanks for stopping by!
It sounds like you’ve had a similarly poorly start to 2017! Hope you all are feeling better now!
I look forward to seeing next months!
Thanks lovely, sending hugs to you too. Let’s hope February as a lot more to offer us all.
Gorgeous, happy, colourful photos – so lovely to see some colour in January! I’m with you, I can’t wait until spring comes around, January has been a long old month. We live by a canal too and we love a walk along it – it’s always so peaceful. Wishing you all a healthier February! #meandmineproject
These are really lovely shots Jenny. I’m sorry you’ve had a tough month, roll on spring! We live very close to a canal too, it’s one of Rosalie’s favourite places to visit with me in the week. Hope you have a better February xxx
I’m most definitely missing the sunshine and blue skies, fresh air in our lungs. I can’t wait to get out and about a bit more over the coming month!
Your photos are so lovely! I wrote the same – January has absolutely dragged and I am not sad to see it go!! xx #MeandMine
I love you canal shots Jenny. Canals are always such peaceful places to stroll yet a mini adventure for kiddies too. Sorry to hear you have been plagued by so much illness, and hoping thats it for a while!
So very much in need of some sunshine to lift my mood x #meandmine
January is a tough month! So cold, and the excitement of the holidays are over. Gilmore Girls! My mom and I watched it together years ago, and while I was home over the holidays subscribed to NetFlix just so we could watch the new episodes. 4 just wasn’t enough!
Beautiful pictures. Movie days in dens sounds fab x
Gorgeous photos – I’m impressed by your pink trousers – I would have a kids footprint on them in seconds. I hope your eye is better soon! I love MM’s coat! #meandmine xx
I really hope February half term brings nice weather – be so nice to get out and about! Gorgeous photos Jenny xx
Wow – you are keen clearing out every cupboard! It is something I should really do – I’m always complaining that we don’t have enough storage space, but how much ‘stuff’ do we actually need?! Love your photos – beautiful as always xx #meandmineproject
Sounds like it has been quite a challenging month overall. I hope February will be a much better one. Love your photos from your walk at the canal – what a lovely spot to spend time together as a family 🙂 #meandmineproject
Gorgeous Photos and yes i’ve been wishing away January and looking forward to spring too. My hubby’s a golf fan too – always moaning he doesn’t get much time to play anymore though. Its funny how you rarely explore the places closest to you-theres a few local places that i’d like to rediscover actually. x
Oh these photos are gorgeous Jenny! I’m sorry you have had a rough month. The weather is taking a turn now. We have had a few sunshiney days and they certainly lift your spirits. It sounds like February will be just what you need. Enjoy your family time lovely xxx
Thank you so much Sarah you are so sweet. I am hoping February has a lot more to offer and nicer weather to help out too. It really helps when the sun is out.
Lovely photos of you all. Love the backdrop of the canal and boats. We have canals near where we live now but we haven’t managed to explore them yet. Definitely need to!
