Welcome to Missy Moo’s oasis, a place to show off her personality and relax.
When it came time to do a nursery for Missy Moo, at first I struggled to picture what I wanted it to look like. I think bedrooms should reflect personality but I had yet to meet my princess so I went off her pre-birth personality. She never stopped in my belly, kicking, punching, rolling, hiccuping, it was continuous which made me think she would be a go-doer, like birds. Beautiful little creatures that spread their wings and fly independently from their nest. I couldn’t have been more right!
I love neutral colors with a loud pop. Most of my house is in some shade of cream and always accented with one bright color. Bright raspberry was my wedding color so I have always been in love with bright pink. I painted one wall bright raspberry and the rest a latte cream. I prefer dark pink to pastel pink for Missy Moo, even her stroller is this raspberry color.
I am a huge fan of Potty Barn. If you haven’t heard of it, you must check it out. If I lived in the states still, I would decorate my entire house in it. They have a kids department too! When I found out Missy Moo was going to be a girl, I quickly jumped on their website and started browsing for ideas. I had searched a few places in the UK but I didn’t find anything that caught my eye. I fell in love with this bird pattern instantly and knew that it would be perfect. The cream birds and the fuscia birds would match my color scheme perfectly.
I was devastated when I saw that they didn’t do curtains to match. I showed my crafty mother what I was decorating the nursery in, in hopes she could make something to coordinate. I only thought it would be something similar but wasn’t fussy. When I opened the box, I couldn’t believe my eyes, it honestly matched PERFECTLY. You can’t tell the difference between her birds she made and their birds on the quilt. She is amazingly talented, everyone thinks I bought them.
I also like the new fad of placing the tie backs higher than normal. It’s safer for nurseries to keep out of reach of children too. Bonus. I found these gorgeous crystal tie backs at Dunelm Mill.
I love having my great-grandmother watching over Missy Moo from the window along with her little birdie piggy bank. It’s never too early to start saving.
These white frames are from Ikea, which I just love and in need to get more. I saw on twitter a whole wall done in these three frames and it looked fab. I am still working on hers but here is what I have so far. The pictures need updated though.
I love white furniture. All her nursery furniture was Buba’s when he was born that we got on sale from Mamas & Papas. It still looks brand new after two and half years! Below is Missy Moo’s Keepsake Bear from Cute As A Button, made out of her first few outfits. Next to it, is one of my favorite prints from Violet & Percy.
I got all Missy Moo’s totes from Potty Barn kids too. They fold flat for easy shipping. I bought a big brown one for her hamper and I use the green and pink ones for storing extra blankets and muslin cloths.
Missy Moo’s bean bag is the best part of her nursery. Buba is as fond of it as she is. I love putting her in the middle while I put her laundry away, she thinks it’s hilarious. Buba loves running and jumping on to it while I give her a bath or feed her at bedtime. Many, many stories have been read to both of them here. It’s large enough for the three of us to enjoy it together. Often you can find Mr. P. reading to Buba in it while I am sat in the chair feeding Missy Moo.
I am in love with Missy Moo’s new sleeping bag from Ted Baker. It is the softest sleeping bag I have ever felt and it was on sale at Debenhams, not too long ago. The colors match her room perfectly.
Excuse the smudged name, I had to erase her real name! The decal was one of the hardest things to do for her room. It took Mr. P. and I hard concentration and a few swear words to finally get it straight, centered and on! It looks great but warning it could cause a divorce. lol

Thanks Katie, I really enjoyed decorating it. With Buba I hadn’t actually done any of it when he was born because we just moved in to our new house before I gave birth. So I enjoyed taking my time and getting it all finished before she was born. I used to walk in and sit in the rocker wondering what she would look like, sound like and be like. Sweet memories.

I really still can’t get over how identical the curtains were too! She is amazing. I wish I could be like her! Thanks it took my awhile to piece it all together but I do love the outcome. Do Pirates and Knights together. You could incorporated them together and make more of a hero theme throughout his room mixing the two. Then he doesn’t have to pick. You can find pirate and knight accents that have a similar color the same like the background be all navy or all green and the pirates and knights on it. It would look great together. Or do one wall Pirates on a ship another wall with knights on their horses by a castle and accent with solid colors all around. It could be really unique and he would get the best of both worlds. Sometimes one certain character like a pirate can be cute but overwhelming in a room of all the same. Just a thought. 😉 Thanks for the comment.

wow – what a lovely room. I’ve been meaning to paint our living room all winter. It makes me want to get those paint brushes out finally!
