Having a baby does a few things to the body. It’s a known fact. While some are lucky enough to pop back into their own jeans leaving the hospital or shortly after, I am not one of those. This year, only weeks after having my third baby we set off for our summer in America. A place where I grew up and we visit every summer. It’s super hot, it’s beautiful and it’s a lot of swimming in pools, lakes and rivers.
So you can imagine the slight anxiety that comes with living in a swimsuit, only weeks after giving birth, for the whole summer ahead. Especially having been my biggest with my third baby it was definitely at the forefront of my mind while packing.
It’s a good thing that one piece swimsuits are a huge trend this year. I had plenty to choose from. While I still didn’t want to buy a lot of clothes that weren’t my normal size, I needed to invest in a few one pieces for our trip.
I bought these three swimsuits and put together a few outfits with them. I love the swimsuit one pieces as a top with kaftans and shorts and skirts on bottom. It’s easy to go from beach to the shops and back again. It’s always super comfortable and easy to breastfeed the baby on the go too. This style is definitely my staple look for the summer.
I have never been one to wear one pieces so it will take some getting used to the feeling of a whole piece. But I have always loved a good beach wrap or kaftan. Rip jean shorts are a firm must for my summer wardrobe every since I was in high school so at least the style hasn’t changed too much. I think it’s great to use one pieces as tops as much as you do for swimwear.
I love how easy my swimwear can be transformed into an outfit. It makes packing easier and keeps the number of clothing you need to take on holiday to a minimum. For a family of five this is a huge must for packing as we have to take enough for all three kids.
I got this gorgeous blue kaftan from Next along with these ripped jean shorts from Tesco F&F collection. The white halter top swimsuit is from H&M last year but there are so many options that are similar this season too. Don’t forget to check out my shop this look below.
I think what turns this beachwear into a proper outfit is accessories. Why not pair with my favorite summer accessories like these Next beaded, chandelier earrings and gold Stella & Dot bracelet cuff. It really completes the look for a chic summer ensemble.
Another favorite beach to outfit look is this gorgeous flamingo swimsuit from Tesco F&F paired with this ripped jean skirt. You can’t beat a jean skirt for the summer. This swimsuit gives creates a blouse look with the frilly details. I love my new rose gold Havaiana flip flops with a gem toe. I bought these on amazon and got another pair in black and silver with a slightly different gem attached for summer.
With temperatures in the 90’s most of the summer, who needs clothes. I can make a variety of outfits just from a few swimsuits. Each year we pack so many clothes to my parents’ house that we end up not wearing because it’s just so hot we don’t need them. We tend to stay in the garden, in the pool, by the river and on the trampoline outside all day. But the same goes for beach holidays for us, we live on the sand or by the pool most days. It saves a lot of money if you can turn your swimwear into outfits.
I have always been drawn to bright clothes. The ones that are vibrant and colorful. You can just peak at my instagram feed here and see it pours into my children’s wardrobes as well. I guess you could say it’s our family signature.
So when I spotted this halterneck one piece from M&S, I had to have it. I paired it with my white ripped jean shorts and new Michael Kors silver sandals I got on sale at xmas. Always look for after xmas sales for your summer footwear they are so cheap. I got these for only £10. I love them. MM has a pair too. Add some summer accessories for a lovely lunch in a cafe after a morning at the beach.
There you have it three beach outfit styles. Pack less, wear more and make your holiday wardrobe fun. It’s definitely made me feel more confident covering up after birth for the summer yet still feel feminine and pretty. You don’t have to break the bank either with these store bought swimwear. It’s all how you put an outfit together and buy things that are versatile.
