Happy Friday! We survived our first week back at school, back in routines of swimming, spanish, gymnastics, music, and golf practice. Phew! Never seems like a lot when we are in the thick of it but when we stop and get used to being lazy the first week back to it is exhausting. But lucky for us the way holidays fall this year, it’s bank holiday weekend!
I hope you all have amazing plans, flying off somewhere warm with a beach or perhaps an awesome trip to Center Parcs or glamping this weekend. We are having huge home makeovers in May so our normal trip to Spain has been postponed. While we are a little sad we couldn’t join in with everyone excited to travel off somewhere this weekend, we have a ‘to do’ list a mile long to get through this weekend before the big home makeover. I am talking spring cleaning on a large scale. I have paint ready to touch up all door frames, doors, stairs, and skirting boards. I have to repaint my old dressing table so I can put it in MM’s bedroom for her to use now. I have a broken sink faucet, broken shower head, and ten mini shelves for the hallway closet to install too. Owning a home, it’s endless and this family seems to be so hard on a house too. Do you feel that way about your family?
Either way, I am glad it’s the weekend. I am about to shut off work here in a minute and watch a movie with the hubby and enjoy my evening. I hope you all are doing the same or something far more exciting. Happy Bank Holiday!
THIS WEEK, I AM LOVING…
I am on the last few pages of Lauren’s book, it has spoiler alerts so don’t read it if you haven’t finished watching GG. I just started Someday, Someday, Maybe. Verdict is still out but next up on my reading list is A Boy Made of Blocks. I know so many of you have already read it. I am so behind in my reading this week.
I heard MM got into B’s school. Not that I was actually worried about it this year as the siblings have been bumped to the top of the criteria and we met all three first criteria, if she wasn’t getting in no one was. Either way, it’s a relief to see it in paper. I dropped off my written acceptance to the school today. I officially have two kids in school…. I hope everyone that was waiting for a verdict got what they wanted or at least happy with the outcome. With our first we didn’t get our first choice and in the end it turned out to be the best thing that ever happened to us for the our kids. We are so over the moon with the school we got instead.
I guess, I am cheating this week because I am sharing my vlog here for you to watch, instead of what I watched because it all honesty I haven’t watched a thing. We had no tv on in Ireland. It was an open fireplace in the country and it was pure blissful. No ipads on and I am cracking down on those minutes there still, too.
This week, I wrote about How to Get Comfortable in Front of the Camera. Even though it wasn’t a fashion post or a special outfit…. I have loved wearing my black strappy sandals again with the sun out. I have enjoyed my new white linen cardy instead of a winter coat. The shades are out too in full use. I got this new blouse from Dorothy Perkins. It’s a tank top with frills on the arm. I love the warmer days that have been visiting us. Minus, our freak snow flurry the other day. What was up with that?
“I made a playdate”. I have been talking about friendships a lot lately, on my blog, offline, on social media. As I get older, I look at friendships so differently than I did when I was growing up. Even in my 20’s, I used to be such a people pleaser and it was a constant rotation of friends that were 10% and I was 90%. Going into my 30’s I thought it would change but it turns out I have changed. I am now happy having a few close amazing friends that I can count on, rely on, love and cherish than forty friends that don’t really care about me. I think it’s changed a lot with having children too. Playdates are the easiest way to make new friends before I had my kids I found it very hard to make friends being an expat. I was always the odd one out. After having kids, you can always relate to parenting. When I started having playdates with other blogger friends, we just have so much in common it makes the friends flow. We recently had a few playdates with these two and it just reminded me how nice it is to have a friendship that is 50/50. I know all my closest friends know I feel this way about them. I love my friends like family. If you are reading this you know who you are…. thank you!

Always a relief to have the school place confirmed in writing and I’m sure that she will love having her big brother there to support her should she need it in September.
Good luck on the home renovations, the to-do list ever ends when you own a home.
Yay for MM getting into the school you wanted! I’ve been reading Lauren’s GG book too, but I’ve not yet finished the series, so holding off reading any more while I finish the last episodes! Love your outfit, those sandals are gorgeous, as it your new blouse! xx
Ahh thank you ever so much. I know it was a big relief. Good to have everyone in the same school. lol Lauren’s books are good and light reading and funny. She is really that quitty in real life as much as her character so it’s awesome. I still haven’t finished a few episodes either. Saving it.
I’m glad you got the school you wanted. Can’t wait to see what you are doing to your house. Lovely photo of you and KA.
I can’t wait to read Lauren’s book but we are still on episode 4 of GG. I might get to start reading it in the summer! So pleased MM got into her brother’s school. Even though you knew the outcome it’s still nice to get the confirmation. I felt exactly the same when we heard that Katie would be going to her brother’s high school in September. Your home makeover sounds exciting #LittleLoves x
As you get older, I definately think it’s quality over quantity with friends. I also feel like the only person who hasn’t watched Gilmour Girls…..maybe I need to finally check it out! #LittleLoves
Oh I only just started watching it long after everyone else had done and did that. lol It’s worth it though check it out. Never too late for the GG. I agree definitely quality over quantity.
Great news that they’re in the same school! Lovely photo from your playdate. I hope you’re having a lovely weekend x #LittleLoves
