I have to hand it to my son for being so inventive and down right playing us all, for our attention. He somehow daily surprises us with phrases, whole sentences and sometimes full mini conversations. He is growing up right before my very eyes, and I want him to stop. With his curly blonde hair and sad puppy dog blue eyes, its enough to make all his sayings just that extra bit cute, and he sure knows how to bat those blues to his advantage.
This week’s phrase is more like a one word sentence. Doesn’t seem so funny or catchy when you read it but man if you could hear how he says it, he would have you spitting your coffee out. I have attempted a few videos but he hates the camera. I will keep trying and update.
Picture this, arms slouched over as low as they possibly can hang, chin poked out and down along with his slouch, mopey upside down smile, and sad eyes, and the respond with the longest drawn out,
“Oooh-Kay”
As if he knows he has to agree but doesn’t want to in the slightest. He has even went one step further today and added a dramatic feet drag as he walked away from me. It’s very hard not to laugh at his dramatics or give him the attention he clearly is seeking.
Here is how breakfast went this morning:
Buba: “Mommy, you clean the table?” (meaning his highchair tray)
Me: “Are you finished?”
Buba: “You clean it now, pleaassseeee?”
Me: “Why don’t you clean it?” (hand him a baby wipe)
Buba: (Head falls, eyes look down as he grabs the baby wipe) “Ooooh – kay (shoulders hunched, mopey face, word drawn out to form a two-word phrase instead of a one-word response.)
He acted as if I asked him the world’s biggest favor. Where do they learning these mannerisms alongside their funny phrases? Wherever it is, keep them coming Buba. You have Mommy, Daddy and the rest of the world entertained.
aw bless him
can’t wait to hear what my two kiddies’ conversations will be when my daughter starts to talk. lol
Aww. I love it when they start getting their own little catch phrases. My Alice who is 2 has a new one – “I’m just having a little look” – usually when she shouldn’t be, like routing through my bag or phone… x
that’s hilarious. I love their sayings. I think it’s more how they say them and what they are getting up to at the time the sayings come out. They are little comedians and don’t know it. Thanks for sharing. Love hearing about other kids’ funny phrases.
What a sweetie! x
Thank you. He is sooo much fun at the moment.
