This year we had the chance to visit my mom in America for Christmas. Something we have never done before because we spend our summers there for the hot weather. The kids were so excited that instead of a heatwave we would be preparing for snow and lots of it.
When I was growing up it was a place of magical snowfall. We never had Christmas without it. The ground is usually covered for about six months of the year with the fluffy white stuff. My three kids haven’t really seen proper snow so we needed to prepare them for it.
We have teamed up with Polarn O. Pyret to put their amazing kids ski gear to the test. Not only did we get to test it out in the snow but we really got to test it out in the cold and rain too. It’s definitely quality gear that can stand the test of any weather.
WHAT WE LOVED ABOUT BUBA’S SKI GEAR:
Even though this boy loves his swimming and hot weather, he was so excited for his ski gear. He loved the cozy warmth of the ski trousers as he hates being cold. Once we got him bundled up, he was impressed with how much fun being outside in the rain and snow can be when you dress appropriately. I think he has always hated the cold because he didn’t have the right gear to play in it. With waterproof ski trousers who doesn’t love jumping in snow piles and muddy puddles. There is no risk of getting wet and cold. That just turned this swimmer into a snow bunny too. He loved the orange detail on his coat and trousers and matching hats with his brother as he can be a bit of a fashionista when he wants to be.
We had the best time making igloos and snow angels this Christmas. But his truly favorite part was snow tubing. The speed, the race, the snow, all in the comfort of his Polarn O. Pyret ski gear. Now that’s what he calls a Christmas vacation he said when we got home and asked him about his holidays. No cold, upset children was what I call a good holiday too.
WHAT WE LOVED ABOUT MISSY MOO’S SKI GEAR:
I think I have one child that is born needing hot weather and one born for the snow. She loves anything that is outdoors no matter what the weather is doing. Her face lit up when we got her all geared up to go roll in the snow. She didn’t take her time to feel it or taste it like her brothers did. MM dived in the first pile of fluffy snow she could find deep enough and rolled around in it like a little puppy. She made snow angels, attempted snow balls and a snowman. When we went snow tubing at Silver Mountain in Kellogg she didn’t want to take the Gondola back down the mountain, she wanted to camp at the top.
I loved the bright pink coat coordinating with her hat. Her snow pants were fab as they had the buttons to snap to her coat and strap over the heel to keep them down in her boots. It created the perfect sealed off outfit so no cold or wet could get in. She stayed toasty and dry all day out in the snow. The bright colors make it easy to spot her.
WHAT WE LOVED ABOUT BABY OWEE”S SKI GEAR:
I think I loved the baby’s all-in-one snowsuit the most. In fact they need to make them for adults too. He was hilarious when we first put it on him playing with the hood and shaking his little legs. It’s super soft and the fur hood is big enough to keep the wind and chill off his cheeks. We actually have been using Baby Owee’s outfit the most even when we got back from America in the UK for cold days at the park and rainy weather. I was impressed that the material was waterproof and lined, keeping him warm and dry in the snow when we went snow tubing.
I love the Polarn O. Pyret have matching hats, gloves, coats and thermals to kit out the kids in coordinating ski gear. It also comes in vibrant colors so you can easily spot the kids on the ski slopes and in the snow. This is always a must for me with three. I have to keep my eyes on them all the time. Baby Owee loved coordinating with his brother shouting “hats, hats” every time they wore them together.
It’s a parents worse nightmare to have a child get wet and cold and be miserable all day if you are traveling, out for the day together. It gets so cold and the wind is biting at times where we visit, it’s so important to get quality ski gear. Keeping their feet, head, and hands all dry and warm is a necessity.
Make sure to check if the gear is just waterproof or insulated for snow and colder temperatures too. There is a big difference. I have seen so many kids at ski resorts in wellies with no insulation where their feet must be freezing, you can hear them complaining about their cold feet or where they have waterproof pants on and are shivering, they are not made for snow just rain. So please ensure you are buying good quality and insulated clothing made for snow. Polarn O. Pyret do excellent thermal clothing for underneath too if you are going to places like Lapland.
