I like to revamp a lot of rooms in my house with the changing of the seasons. I move furniture and knickknacks from room to room because I like constant change in my home. I don’t necessarily buy new stuff all the time for my home as some people think. One item in the living room can look completely different in the dining room. Recently, I have been doing room swaps where I moved the front playroom into the living room and the living room into the playroom. I wish I had swapped these two rooms around years ago. It works better for us with a new baby on the way too.
Sometimes though new things are needed. Bedding is one of the last things I tend to change in each room because it sets the theme and color scheme. It’s far easier to change a cushion here or there or knickknacks then try to find new bedding with the same color scheme to match your current bedroom decor. Our spare bedding was in need of a huge revamp.
We have family and friends stay over almost every week so our spare bedroom gets a lot of guest traffic and use. I have been dying to give it a fresh look and some new towels for my guests to enjoy when they use the en-suite. We were so excited to team up with Christy England luxury linens to help us find the perfect new bedding and towels for our spare bedroom revamp.
As in most of my house, my color scheme is light grey and light dust pink. It pretty much is my go to because my house is very dark for a new build. The windows are all small and facing the wrong way to allow the natural light to reach deep into the rooms. While I love my house, I dream one day of having more natural light in each room. So I keep the decor as bright as I can to reflect what little light I have. (interior trick, use lots of mirrors too).
NEW BEDDING:
But this time I braved a little darker grey to contrast my light grey carpet and wallpaper in the spare bedroom. A bedroom can be slightly more darker and inviting than the kitchen or dining room needs to be. You want it to welcome guest as first sight as much as be cozy and soft to snuggle into at night.
For me, I believe you should always buy one size bigger than the bed size. No one wants to be fighting over corners of the duvet at night with their partners. It hides the divan bed sides if you don’t have a bed frame like we do in our spare. Bed skirts never work for me. They are hard to line straight and stay straight especially when we have drawers in our divan bed frame. So we choose a Super King Duvet Set that will hang over the sides and cover the drawer handles but make it easy to lift up and get into when we need.
I love the dust pink with the charcoal grey mix together. I am a huge fan of throw cushions on beds, chairs, sofas and corners of the playroom so this gorgeous knitted button cushion was the perfect accessory. Pair it with a tassel throw blanket, it’s a cozy WIN! Although I may have to start taking naps in the spare bedroom now. My guests are truly spoiled now.
I have to say though for my afternoon coffee break and reading, it’s the perfect spot to steal the afternoon sun if it’s shining in and some peace and quiet. It’s the only room in our house that gets some what light all day so when I need some natural light therapy as I call it, this is the first spot I take a cuppa and a snack to enjoy. In my third trimester of pregnancy, a snuggly bed is the best place to be.
NEW TOWELS:
In the past, I have always bought random cheap towels. Mostly because I have two kids and one baby on the way and I just never thought there was much difference because a £5 towel and a £15 towel…. oh, how silly of me. Christy’s towels have made me think I need to get a new set for each bathroom in the house pronto. I got out of the bath the other night and wrapped one around me and thought I might just lay down on the bed and go to sleep in this towel. It was like a cozy blanket of softness from my normal scratchy towels. Hubby was most impressed when he found one waiting for him when he got out of the shower the other day too. Sadly, though they are for our guest bathroom so we need to save them for that and stock up on some more later.
Now I have lovely luxury towels to offer family and friends. I love hanging them on the towel rack or following them at the end of the bed and leaving a mini mints like a hotel for them to be greeted with. It’s the small touches sometimes that make people smile the biggest when they stay and feel welcomed.
FINISH THIS LOOK:
To finish the look off I got some lovely charcoal curtains from Dunelm Mill. That pulled the cushion and throw and Ikea side table lamp all together. The dust pink duvet and pillows pop against the light grey Laura Ashely wallpaper. I only wish the color showed better in photos as it’s beautiful dust pink.

I like lots of pillows and cushions
Just 2 pillows for me and no cushions.
I prefer none – small bedrooms here so smooth lines look better (I feel) and nowhere to put the pillows when getting into bed!
Oh yes simple can be so much better depending on the space.
I’ve always gone smooth lines but think I fancy a change
Oh win it looks lovely and I LOVE those accessories – such greta colours. Great styling Jenny xx
I prefer lots of pillows and cushions but my husband would prefer smooth lines. Hugs Lucy xxxx
Beautiful colours and a great giveaway!! I’m all over interior posts at the moment as we’re about to move house and the new house needs to be redecorated throughout. These colours are gorgeous for a bedroom (I’ve already made a mental note) xxx

I prefer none and smooth lines
I had never considered buying a duvet a size bigger than the bed – great idea! Looks really cosy Jenny – I have dusky pink and dark grey in my bedroom. Love it. xx
I love the colours, pink & grey always look so lovely together. You can’t beat a bed full of pillows and blankets x
I like the tip of buying a duvet that’s a size too big for the bed so it hangs down and hides the sides – that’s genius! We desperately need new towels – my girls always complain that ours are scratchy – and Christy’s are the dream for sure though a little out of my budget range unfortunately. You have such an eye for interiors Jenny.
I liked lots of pillows on my bed. These pictures are beautiful. I just love that pillow with buttons. Thanks for sharing.
