What did you have for lunch today? Another sandwich or wrap and a piece of fruit or yogurt. Are you in a lunchtime rut like the rest of us with the same lunch meal over and over?

Lunchtimes are hard to have the time to prepare anything other than the quick sandwich making in the morning that might even become soggy by time you actually get to lunch that day. When I was working in the city and having to prepare my lunch or grab a coffee and snack from the nearest cafe in the short 30 mins you get it got frustrating.

It’s important to me to make healthier choices for lunch and when you are crunched for time this becomes very hard to do. I want lunches that aren’t restrictive, great tasting but that keep me on a balanced calorie in take plan. I am teaming up with Weight Watchers to spice up lunchtime meals. No more boring ham sandwiches for me. I am trying out the following delicious chilled meals for lunchtime:

Italian Chicken Lasagne
Spicy Jerk Chicken and Coconut Rice
Lincolnshire Sausage and Root Vegetable Mash
Chicken, Leek and Mushroom Pie
Chicken Tikka and Basmati Rice

My first impressions of these meals…

I found they all taste like homemade cooked meals bursting with full flavor. It’s quick and easy to grab one out of the fridge on your way to work and pop it in the microwave, saving you time to have a quick look at instagram on your lunch break. I also love that I can keep within my calories as I am wanting to eat and maintain healthier eating habits after having a baby. It’s great there is a variety of flavors here to choose from too but I will focus on my three favorites below for you.

Spicy Jerk Chicken and Coconut Rice

I love rice so I knew this one would go down as a firm favorite for lunch. I find rice is light enough it doesn’t put me into a food coma to go back to work at my desk after I eat it. The sauce on this one was full of spice flavor. The hint of coconut really add to it. I liked to squeeze a lime over mine. It was big enough I felt satisfied and not left hungry like other ready to go meals do.

Lincolnshire Sausage and Root Vegetable Mash

I think my family loves this one as much as I do. I keep telling them they are for my lunch but somehow they keep disappearing from the fridge. The gravy and onions are an added bonus for flavor in this dish. Who doesn’t love a good root vegetable mash packed full of your veggies for the day.

Chicken, Leek and Mushroom Pie

I am huge on leeks. I love leeks in my casseroles, soups, and pies. They are a great flavor booster and pair perfectly with chicken and mushrooms in this pie lunch. Sometimes it’s nice to have our favorite comfort foods on those freezing colder winter days. It warms us up ready to get back to work without over eating on calories and gorging ourselves. This dish was the perfect size to comfort but not over do it. It was a happy change from my cold, ham sandwiches on a rainy day, let me tell you.

Are you sick of cold, sandwiches for lunch but still want to stay healthy and within your calorie in-take goals? So many people eat the same foods day in and day out for lunch. Weight Watchers is not restrictive so you can enjoy all foods you love at home, in a restaurant or on the go and still lose weight. It’s the flexible diet that allows you to choose different plans to suit you whether by tracking SmartPoints or No Count plan. It’s the diet that is liveable where you can still go out with your friends and enjoy a glass of wine or that piece of cake. They are high tech with their online tools and the app with the barcode scanner and tracker. This is the feature that would help me the most as we are always on the go and eating out.

If you are like me and like to keep track what’s in the food you are eating, relax knowing that Weight Watchers are low in calories, low in sugar, and have no artificial colors, flavours or preservatives.

They taste great, they save us time, and comfort us with flavor while keeping to a healthy diet. Now I call that a great lunchtime meal.

Let’s make happy, healthy choices for our everyday eating habits.
