Everyone thinks Valentine’s Day is all about the goodies, gifts, and dinners out but I think it can be enjoyed a lot longer than one day a year. Why not decorate your house for the month of L-O-V-E! Or style your mantelpiece for the special occasion. Either way, there are thousands of Valentine’s Day home decor ideas out there. I have come across a few I fell in love with and had to share.
Valentine’s Day Garlands
A garland is perfect for the mantelpiece or hanging on the hallway wall. Bring that little spice of craft and love into your home decor. It’s a bonus if you like to do crafty things too, because then you can make one yourself. Get the kids involved and make it one of your Valentine’s activities! I love a garland as part of my Valentine’s Day decorations because they don’t take up a lot of storage space when they’re not in use, and you can hang them in a different place every year – meaning it always looks fresh and new.
Check out these tips for a fun Valentine’s Day at home for the whole family
Mantlepiece Decorations
This mantelpiece decor could be used from February right through the summer. It’s got Valentine’s Day, Spring, Mother’s Day and Summer feel to it all wrapped into one. I love that it adds a pop of colour, and it is so easy to find artificial flowers these days that you can use over and over again. Charity shops and carboot sales are a great place to look for those unique little vases as well.
Same goes for this stylish LOVE mantelpiece inspiration. I love the decor on this and style. It really could be a permanent style for your home. It’s very shabby chic. I love the vintage feel about it too. I have never been one for bold reds for Valentine’s day it’s more about the pinks and whites for me even when it comes to roses!!!
Small Valentine’s Day Accessories
What’s not to love about these gorgeous Valentine’s Day home decor ideas here? I am crushing on these penguin cushions and initials. If you follow my blog you will know my slight obsession with food photography. How exciting would it be to have a personalized cheese board upon my counters? I know I would be excited, but might not be your thing. Either way, you have to admit how funny these Valentine’s Day pillows are for my side and your side! Brilliant idea!
Monochrome Valentines Decorations
Last but not least in the slightest, I leave you with this stunner, monochrome LOVE decor. I could have this in my house all year round. I think when we move my next house I want all black and white. Monochrome is very in and with a splash of any accent color you can pull it off in so many different ways. I love the gold here it makes it feel so romantic.
Do you decorate your house for Valentine’s Day or for February? What sort of decorations do you like to put up for the big day? Or are you a mantelpiece decorator? The one that has it blinged out on every holiday? I would love to know more, leave a comment below. Â Or tweet or instagram me a photo! Oh I love all the hearts and love and things in this post. Such cute touches x
I would be happy if I could just decorate my house full-stop at the moment! But I do love these ideas, you have great taste 🙂
Hadn’t ever thought of decorating for Valentines Day but this all looks lovely!
Such a beautiful stylish post hon! Absolutely loving the garland and cushions 🙂
Although I am single this year, I love the Love mantlepiece ideas as will work just as well for the love in the house between parents and children 🙂
Of course it would. No one says you have to be coupled to celebrate Valentines Day. My mother was a single mother when we were growing up and she used to get us treats and us her treats so don’t have to have a partner per say. Celebrating love is enough. 😉
oooh so pretty! We are planning on a date night this Valentine’s but I wish my house was like these pics when I come home after. 🙂 xx
Some lovely ideas here Jenny, I’m off to check out your Pinterest board too! x
Oh thanks Emma that’s lovely of you. Glad you like it.
Not really into Valentines Day as an occasion if I’m honest, so no decorating here! I do love the look of all of these though x
I have never thought of decorating a mantel piece but your ideas look absolutely amazing! I wish I had such great design flair! I love that chopping board too…!
Grace says – these look really pretty. I think the pillows look really fun.
Lucas says – UURRRGGHHH! Soppy but I suppose Valentines Day gives me a better chance of stealing some kisses in the playground!! he he #sharewithme
Go Lucas with his romantic side. Grace you are a little sweetie thanks.
Loving the décor ideas but I always prefer bolder colours but they do look very stylish. #sharewithme
Thanks hun. I used to be a one vibrant color kind of girl but lately it’s more pastels. lol Each to their own. lol
Absolutely love this feature, Jenny! Hard to choose, but the mantlepiece with the gorgeous pale pink roses has to be my favourite. I’m like you, I much prefer pink to the classic red rose. Really lovely ideas here, will have to whack a Valentines vignette together later now! (Which I will heartily enjoy!). By the way, I don’t get the #sharewithme tweet any more, hope I am not in the bad books? 🙂 I am always happy to be reminded and RT. Love Jess xxx
OH that is so sweet of you. I had a bunch complaining about the tweets so I stopped. But will tweet you for sure so grateful for your support. Thanks I love a good vignette can’t wait to see what you come up with. It’s such a great month to decorate for. I love the idea of changing a mantelpiece each month to find the season.
We don’t tend to DO Valentine’s Day much at Bod Towers but I love these ideas for home decoration – I’d use them all year round! x
Me too. I love probably decorating more for it than actually celebrating it. lol
Love the window on the mantel with the roses! I could definitely look at that all month. Pink and red look so cheerful in the middle of winter!
So true. Always nice to bring some color to those gloomy winter months. lol I only wish I could change my mantelpiece every month to fit the holidays and seasons.
If only resources and time were unlimited, I would try all these! Maybe not the monochrome, but pastels yeah!
I know me too. I wish I could change my mantelpiece every month to fit the seasons and holidays. lol
I like the idea of decorating the home seasonally. Usually the only time of the year we make serious changes is at Christmas, but Easter seems to be creeping in a lot more nowadays and Hallowe’en too. x
#sharewithme
Oh yes I say go all out each month for everything. hahaha I love celebrating things and decorating is celebrating. lol If only I could offer to change the mantelpiece every month now. hahaaha Thank you pinterest.
Lovely Valentine’s Day ideas. I love the flowers and kisses mantlepiece and the your side/my side pillows 🙂
Thanks it’s always fun to decorate for holidays other than just Christmas.
All of these are lovely, but the flowers & kisses mantelpiece is just gorgeous! It would definitely look nice at other times of the year too, and I can imagine it being a lot of fun to set up. If only I had the time (and a less destructive-sorry-interested child)!!
Yes me too. If only my children didn’t like to break everything in sight I would be doing all this too. Wishlist for our futures then. hahaha
Lots of inspiring ideas, lovely! I like the ‘my side’ ‘your side’ pillowcases! x
They are brilliant aren’t they! So funny when I saw them. I take up most of our six foot bed it’s true. hahaa
I love the penguin cushion, actually going to hint to hubby about that one. So sweet! It’s a great idea to think about decorating the whole house with a love theme too. #sharewithme
Oh yes I wish I could go all out for every holiday each month in the house. I love it. Who doesn’t want love splashed everywhere? hahaha
We don’t do Valentine’s! But these are some lovely decor for year round!! I love shabby chic….. I cannot get it past the husband though!
Ya we had a little of that in our house so I go the shabby chic dining room and he got the modern living room. Compromise. hahaha I stay in my room tho and he stays in his. haahah The children mess them both up everyday though. lol
Pinning this in case I ever get around to putting the Christmas decorations away before February one of these years.
Hahah you crack me up. Thanks for pinning it babes. I love when others pin my posts for later. 😉
The Flowers and kisses mantlepiece is absolutely delightful! My children would find a way to destroy it so I will have to save that idea until they leave for college. Well worth pinning!
Thanks for pinning it and yes me too on the kids leaving for college first. There is so much I want to do in our house after they leave. Hahaha it’s not child proof now and things get broke daily. Lol
I alway love reading your home decor ideas, I mean your pad looks amazingly chic all the time.. Mine, however, doesn’t! Ha ha so taking a LOVE theme to it, may cause havoc – I mean I need to hoover first. And hubby and I think romance is a quick cuddle and Game of Thrones on box set 🙂
Hey there is nothing wrong with cuddling and box set we are partial ourselves for sure. Alot of my home decor hun are wishlist and future add ons it’s not all my home I WISH! lol Just helping other be inspire by designs I love myself. I have so much I want to do to my home too. Vacuuming isn’t one of them. hahaha
I love the penguin pillows! x
Me too they are a fave of mine for sure. Penguins are adorable.
I love those pillows! What lovely taste you have in interiors x
Thank you so much Megan. I used to want to be an interior decorator. I could do any style all day long. I like moving just to redecorate everything. lol Sad but true.
So pretty! I’d love to be better at home decor.
Thanks Emma. I bet you are better than you think.
Great idea. I decided to have flowers on the table In the kitchen for the month and in the living room. It’s rare in our house but it makes the house look so much nicer.
Oh that’s a lovely idea. I am obsessed with fresh flowers in the house despite it always making my eyes water with allergies. Lol
How gorgeous! I’ve never decorated for valentines before, but being that I’m at home this year I think I might take some inspiration from these! Funnily enough I was just looking on Pinterest for cake ideas before I saw yours too!! x
Thanks hunny. Oh shaped cakes are the best for celebrations. I love an easy recipe. Lol wish the photos would have done it better justice this time.
Ha ha – I love those pillowcases – MOH thinks he gets v little bed so these would be perfect and make it official!
Yes indeed. I definitely take up all the bed so it’s perfect for me too!
I love the monochrome and also the garland is so lovely and something I could really see in my home x
I would love an entire house of monochrome someday but then I love all greys and whites too. It’s hard to have a passion for so many styles my house isn’t one or the other but hundreds of different styles hahaha
i have hearts all over my house all year round! I love them. I fell in love with hearts when I got married and kept all the decor! It’s Valentine’s Day all year round in our house! Love the you’ve posted!
Emma x
That’s so sweet and what a great idea. I bet it looks amazing. Thanks hunny.
I love to decorate the house but never thought at valentines so I love this, thank you!! I especially love the Penguins cushion!! Xx
Thanks hunny. Glad you like it. I could decorate everything for any occasion I love it.
Love the mantelpiece decor. We don’t celebrate Valentine’s day anymore ,although the OH wasn’t keen on it in the first place. So there’s no way we’d decorate the house. But we’re a bit slack on decorating anyway in our house, let alone for anything seasonal.
We don’t usually celebrate with gifts or anything but I do like to bake for the hubster and make a nice meal at home and a movie. The simple things.
I don’t really decorate for valentines but I love the hearts and the colour red and there is a fair bit in my house, so you could say it decorated all year round!
Thanks fantastic. Nothing wrong with red and hearts in your life all year round. lol
oo I love those Mantelpiece Initials! They could be kept up all year round too. I am hoping to do some love themed crafts with the kids over the half term and decorate the house a little that way 😀
That’s fantastic. I really need to do more crafts with the kids but think they are still just a little too young to comprehend glue and scissors not in their mouths. lol
This all looks so lovely. Reminds me of when I was a teenager and my best friends mum used to decorate the house for valentines. She would offer love hearts to anyone who came to the door (much to my friend’s embarrassment at the time!) #sharewithme
Oh that is a brilliant idea. I love that. I may have to adopt that but I am sure my husband would be mortified and possibly the only person ever to come to my door is post office man. lol He might get the wrong idea. lol hahaha
All fabulous ideas. I adore the mantelpiece inspiration and love the idea that this will see you through to summer as I’m longing for warmer weather already!
Oh yes most definitely. So fun to decorate for the holidays.
I like the frames. Those are some great looks.
Thanks hun. I could decorate over and over again. I think I need to move just to redecorate hahaha
What beautiful pieces!
I would have all of them! x
Thanks Laura. I want them all too. Lol so fun to decorate for the seasons.
I love the shabby chic style mantle.. I’m all about the greys at the moment so this would blend in nicely.
Me too. If I could do my house in all white and grey and monochrome I would be so happy. Hahaha I used to be drawn to vibrant Colors but I soon tire of them now. Lol
Lov.ey things ! No we don’t decorate for Valentines Day – we are still recovering from Christmas!! X #sharewithme
hahah you aren’t the first recovering from Christmas but it’s great way to motivate them to be put away. hahaha
I love all the flowers on the mantlepiece – so pretty! #sharewithme
Thanks hunny Me too, I would love to have flowers on mine all year round.
Oh I do love all the whitewash- makes a change from the usual Valentine’s Day decor! Thanks for joining on on #homecorner!
Thanks me too! I am not all that red red stuff for Valentine’s day. I like more lighter things.
I love all of these ideas! We will hopefully be buying our own home later this year and can’t wait to start decorating!
