We are a Konfidence Swimologist family

Last updated on November 19th, 2023 at 12:19 am

I am very excited to announce that this year we are a “Konfidence Swimologist Family”. As a family that loves the water and swimming as much as we love cake this is a very exciting adventure for us for 2015. With Buba starting school in September and Missy Moo turning two this summer we have a few beach holidays and water experiences to share with you along the way! This year will be one to remember!

I'm an official Konfidence Swimologist family What does it mean to be a swimologist? Well with two little toddlers learning the art of swimming we have tried and tested numerous learning techniques, swimming lessons and swimming aids such as floatsuits and armbands so we haven’t just did our research but as Swimologist we are putting that research to action and learning by doing! We will be testing out some amazing Konfidence products to see how it helps my two little ones be more confident swimmers in the water while having fun in the sun!

Konfidence was created by a family with children and they knew by experience just what they were looking for to help their two kids swim more efficiently, effectively, and safely. Who better to create such products than parents? Who better to test out those theories than little swimmers themselves?

“You may study all the “-ologies” of the world,

but if you do not learn swimology, all your studies are useless.”

My love for swimming has been there right from the start of my life. I took swimming lessons as a child, and went on to become a lifeguard and swimming teacher myself as a young adult. I love the feeling you get when you are swimming whether it’s in a lake, ocean, or pool. I grew up on a river and spent most of my summer days either in the river or at the city pool! As soon as I had children I knew I wanted that for them too and if not for that reason, at least for safety reasons when they were on holiday or at their grandparents. There are so many benefits to learning the art of swimming!

We have had the pleasure of being apart of swimming lessons since my son was born and both kids have gone through the various levels of swimming and still go each week. It’s such a great experience taking them for me too. It’s something we do together and I cherish so very much.

I'm an official Konfidence Swimologist family

As a Konfidence Swimologist Family we will be sharing our favorite Konfidence products over the summer and what we think of them. I know I am most excited about the floatsuits and jacket for the kids when we go on holiday. It won’t just help build their confidence up as they are not huge fans of armbands but it will definitely help Mommy and Daddy’s confidence of them being in water as such a young age.

  5. Well done lovely!! Swimming is a daddy thing in my house – the chlorinated water aggregates my skin. The kids love it because it’s their special time with him 🙂

  6. Confidence in the water is one of the most important things that we can teach our children and I’m so pleased for you being a #swimologist! Looking forward to reading more about your water-based adventures. I take the Little Man swimming every week and he’s happy on his front – not so much on his back! Hope to pick up some tips from your upcoming posts #sharewithme

    • Thanks Michelle. Yes me too can’t wait to share it all this summer. As a swim teacher myself for years I have found a lot of kids don’t like their back it feels unnatural to them and can take some time to like it. The best thing to do is try and try again but never force it. Make it fun to look for monkeys on the ceiling or a buddy flying over head. It’s a work in progress to perfect it so they trust being on their backs.

  7. We’ve been trying to get our now 6 month old into swimming since she was 3 months. I still feel like she’s confused by the whole thing. Hopefully her water confidence will grow in time. Such a great family activity – not to mention an essential life skill.
    Thanks for hosting #ShareWithMe!

    • I couldn’t agree more. Definitely something we love to all do together. Don’t worry they are still getting to grips with how it feels weightless in the water at that age. Keep it up and making them feel secure with you in the water is the first step.

  8. Great post. My little ones have only been swimming a couple of times as Jessica gets very cold quickly in the pool even with a wetsuit so we don’t go often. I should really try harder to find a warmer pool for her.

    • I would look around there are water pools for the younger ones. Has you tried full long sleeve and long leg swimsuits and wetsuits. Instead of the short ones. Keep them moving when they are in the water if they are holding the sides a lot they will naturally get cold for not moving. Try 30 minutes at a time. So they can learn and get confident on how it feels but not be in too long. Just a few things I told my parents when I was teaching.

    • Yes it was a very exciting perk. I can’t wait to try it out. Takes some getting used to though. Lol we love swimming so can’t wait to try all their products out and share with you all.

  9. huge congratulations! We’re a swim happy family too so I can imagine how important it is to you to be representing a brand such as this, I live by the sea so it’s more a safety factor for us as well as fun. Have a great time on your beach holidays and looking forward to seeing how you get on with all the gizmos.

    • Thanks hunny. Yes definitely a safety thing too for us as my parents live on the water. A great bonus to love swimming for us all too. I am very honored to represent such a great brand.

    • Oh yes definitely. I have taken my kids since they were 4/5 weeks old. It’s great to get them in the water as young as possible and build their confidence up from there. Never too late though either. We love swimming.

    • Oh no once you have done it I promise it’s not as daunting as it seems but I know what you mean at first. Try it. You will love the time together. Thanks hunny.

  12. I’ve got a 4 year old and an 8 month old. Really want to get them both swimming. We did Water babies the first time around but as usual the second baby missed out!

    Reply
    • Oh bless. Yes we try our best to split the kids so they both can do them. It’s nice that Puddleducks helps with older children on the side of the pool while you are in with baby but it’s hard when baby needs to be somewhere else for the older swimmers. Hope you get back to it soon. It’s a great experience for all.

  16. congratulatiobns 🙂 I have a 7 year old daughter who atm I terrified of water she proper screams but swimming lessons cost a fortune x

    Reply
    • Is she scared of it because it’s deep? Maybe try shallow baths with bubbles or toys if you haven’t tried that already. Or getting in the tub with her so it builds her water confidence up. Water can be scary for some. My mother in law is still scared of it. Bless her.

  17. Sounds really exciting … not to mention scientific! 😉 I’m interested how this will go – my daughter also loves swimming, though has stopped her swimming class for now. She’s too much into her gymnastics class at the moment, but hoping her interest with swimming will come back! 🙂 #sharewithme.

  18. My little girl loves the water, always has! I did a mommy and me class with her last spring and was hoping she could do a class solo at 2 1/2 this summer but she won’t make the cut age wise. Looks like it’s baby pools and sprinklers for us this summer.

  19. I really hoped I would make more of an effort to take my kids swimming, however I have not succeeded! I think it is important. I can swim in a pool, but not a river or the sea, but I think it would be the most fabulous experience if I had the confidence! Congrats on the job!

    • Thanks Mel. Well hunny it’s never too late. I have been teaching my husband to swim as he cant at all. At 36 he is doing it. You could. Water confidence is great and safety too.

My kids love being in the water and I just want them to be safe. I will have to check these products out. Great review!

  21. These sound like great products! I’ll never forget the first time I took my little one swimming, she was about 8 months old and took to it like a fish, I didn’t think I’d ever get her out of the pool!

  22. I am not a confident swimmer at all… never have been! I really want Elsa to learn early though because it really is so important. I’m hoping my mum will take her because I just don’t think I would feel happy looking after her myself in the water. #sharewithme

    • I used to send my husband to take them every other week as he doesn’t know how to swim at all. So he learned with them as you are always standing in shallow water never over your head so you don’t have to be a swimmer to take them. But understand what you mean. I think it seems daunting if you haven’t gone before but once you start it’s great.

I used to go to swimming lessons with Little F from 4 months, but he has not been swimming for some months now. Unfortunately the timings have been changed and they clash with his nap – he falls asleep on the way…. It is the only swimming pool we can comfortably reach…

    Reply
    • Yeah I had that same problem with buba but I used to just wake up and alter his naps on that day as its only once a week. But it’s hard when times clash and they get grumpy. Bless.

  29. Swimming is so important. I am scared of water and have been since I was little. I have made sure both of my children were in the water (with their Daddy) from an early age. They love the water and have so much confidence! Miss M is having swimming lessons at the moment while Miss C is a fantastic swimmer and now swims purely for pleasure 🙂

    Reply
    • It’s great that you didn’t pass that fear on. My mother in law is petrified of water and passed it onto all her kids so now I am trying to teach my husband how to be confident in the water for the kids safety if not for the fun. Good for you for getting them involved still.

  30. I think swimming is so important for a child. My dad takes Lucas swimming and it’s great that they have this activity together. It’s also great for Lucas as we’ve started going on a yearly holiday where we have our own swimming pool so it’s so important that Lucas is safe. What a great opportunity for you and your family and I hope you have amazing fun with this x #sharewithme

    • Thanks. Yes I think it’s a safety thing too and my husband hates that he can’t swim so I made sure to get us in classes. I think it’s easy once you start going but I can see where life gets busy and want to do other things as it gets expensive.

    • Oh dear that is awful and so scary. I agree, it’s about safety first with me too. I can’t imagine if my kids could swim or at least have a fighting chance to get to the side if they fell in. So scary.

  33. My eldest has finished her swimming lessons and chose not ot take on competitive swimming despite lots of encourageemnts from her teacher. Despite being good at it, she just didn’t want to take it any further. My two younger ones are learning at the moment and loving it. Some hobbies, I let go if they no longer have an interest in them but swimming is something that they will stick at despite any future protests!! #sharewithme

    • Yes I feel the same especially as it could save their lives or someone elses someday and for me thats a good enough excuse. But I wouldn’t press sports or anything on them if they decided to stop playing them.

When she’s a little older we’ll enroll her in formal lessons but until then a splish splash in the pool with mummy and daddy should hopefully be a positive start!
