Who Me? Couldn’t Be? A MAD Blog Finalist!

Last updated on May 5th, 2024 at 01:57 pm

It was Sunday night, I had just come in from having dinner with the family at my mother-in-laws. I hadn’t had a chance to peak at twitter all evening as I was in full potty training mode with Buba, my two year old, praying he wouldn’t have an accident on my MIL’s carpet. After rushing home to get both kids in thier pjs and in their beds, I glanced at twitter to see a message from CoolbananasRU ok? Just checking you’ve recovered from the shock? RU charging up & down your street bursting with excitement? xx

To say I was confused wouldn’t describe it. The lovely team at The Mad Blog Awards were ever so clever not to tell us all when the finalists would be announced so I scanned the rest of my messages to find I had made it to The MAD Blog finals in TWO categories BEST BABY BLOG and BEST NEW BLOG.

I double checked, who me? New me? Couldn’t be? Yup, my name was still there. After the shock wore off, I ran into the living room arm pumping and crying all at once to my husband, who guaranteed, thought I lost the plot. Then I called my mother in America, who equally thought I had completely lost it.

I couldn’t believe my name was next to all these amazing bloggers that I have been following and loving, myself. It is a true honor and without all of you that wouldn’t be possible. So a HUGE thank you goes out to all those that voted for this newbie and got me this far. A thank you to my kids and husband, who are always providing me with experiences and adventures to share without which I wouldn’t have my blog!

For those that don’t know what the MAD Blog are for: its to praise and recognise UK Mum and Dad bloggers for their hard work and talent. What does being a finalist means, here is a little stat for you.

“200,000 votes were casted, 6,000 blogs nominated, only 59 blogs were chosen”

The voting gets harder now, because I am up against some of my favorite bloggers, and some of my favorite bloggers are up against each other, choosing is difficult. I wish everyone could win. I am sure it’s the same for all of you to choose too. So if you don’t know me, here is a little bit about me.

“I am a new blogger, a loud American mother of two under three, married to my handsome British husband. We live in the UK where I blog about all our family experiences and adventures together, about the milestones of both my babies: Buba and Missy Moo, and everything in between: photography, fashion, recipes, crafts, home decor, music and poetry. “

If this is your first time here at Let’s Talk Mommy, first off welcome! Here are a few posts I would like to share with you to showcase why you should vote for me for BEST BABY BLOG AND BEST NEW BLOG!

Missy Moo’s Milestones: 8 Months Old

Buba’s Milestones: Big Boy Bed

J.E.A.P Adventures

A-Z of Me

How I Got Here

You would be making this otherwise unconfident new blogger’s dreams come true as writing has always been her greatest passion next to her family and to be recognized on a greater scale for all of it would be astounding!

I have heard so many amazing things about the MAD Blog Awards Gala. I am excited to get to meet so many of my favorite bloggers too. From reading all about last year’s gala, it sounds like the party of the year and all the photos look like everyone really enjoyed the evening. I can’t wait. Roll on September!!!

  1. Jenny you made me smile noting your families reaction. I’ve not even told my Mum yet as she still doesn’t understand the difference between email and google! However I know the joy you must feel and I can’t wait to catch up with you in September. It is indeed an amazing night.

I am up against my favorite bloggers which makes it even tougher. I just look forward to the night it will be so much fun. and congrats again to you my lovely.

    • Thank you so much Hayley. I really couldn’t have done it without all the encouragement, blog love and support from all of you. To think I almost deleted my blog a few months back when a few bloggers got really mean with me. So glad I didn’t now. I am still in shock. 😉

    • Thank you so much that is so sweet of you. I cried like a baby. Stupid I know. But I have only been blogging six months and a few months ago almost deleted the whole thing. Vic Welton kept me in the game. So glad too. I find it hard to think that it’s good somedays and other days I am obsessed with it. So nervous to meet all my favorite bloggers in real life though. It’s weird to know some much about people that you never met and then to assume they will even know me because I may follow them but they might not follow me is just bizarre feeling. Never good with rejection. hahaha But I do look forward to meeting everyone all the same. It sounds like they are always fun galas to attend. Congrats to you too hun!!!!! What an achievement.
